• If you have a known hypersensitivity to estradiol or to nitrogen mustard.
• If you have active thrombophlebitis or a thromboembolic disorder (blood clot), except in specific cases where the tumour itself is judged by your doctor to be the cause of the clotting problem and the benefits of treatment are considered to outweigh the risks

• Breast tenderness and breast enlargement (a known oestrogenic effect)
• Fluid retention, swelling (oedema)

• Nausea, diarrhoea, other minor gastrointestinal upset, loss of appetite
• Breathlessness, leg cramps
• Easy bruising, dry skin, itching, rash
• Lethargy, insomnia, headache
• Raised liver enzymes
• Low white blood cell count (leukopenia)

• Blood clots, including in the legs (thrombophlebitis) or lungs (pulmonary embolism)
• Heart attack (myocardial infarction) or stroke (cerebrovascular accident)
• Cardiac arrest or worsening congestive heart failure
• Low platelet count (thrombocytopenia)
• Abnormal bilirubin or other liver function test results
• Gynaecomastia (breast tissue growth in men) and impotence
• Allergic reactions and angioedema, at times involving the airway
• Gastrointestinal bleeding
• Transient elevated blood calcium (hypercalcemia)

Other General Warnings

• You have a history of blood clots, thrombophlebitis, stroke, or heart disease, especially if this occurred during previous oestrogen therapy.
• You have diabetes, as this medicine can reduce glucose tolerance and affect blood sugar control.
• You have high blood pressure, as this medicine can cause or worsen hypertension.
• You have epilepsy, migraine, or kidney problems, as these can be affected by the fluid retention this medicine can cause.
• You have liver problems, as this medicine may not be processed normally and requires cautious use.
• You have a bone condition associated with high blood calcium, or kidney impairment, as this medicine can affect calcium and phosphorus levels.
• You have osteoblastic bone metastases from your prostate cancer, as you are at risk of low blood calcium and will need monitoring.
• You develop swelling of the face, lips, or throat, or difficulty breathing, which could indicate a severe allergic reaction.
• You notice breast changes, tenderness, or enlargement that concern you.

• Take Estramin capsule exactly as your doctor prescribed.
• Swallow the capsule with water. Take it well away from meals, at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after eating.
• Do not take Estramin capsule at the same time as milk, milk products, or calcium-rich foods or medicines, including calcium-containing antacids, as these can significantly reduce absorption of the medicine.
• Continue treatment for as long as your doctor advises, based on how your disease responds.
• Follow your treatment centre's guidance on proper handling and disposal of this cytotoxic medicine.

• Store capsules as directed on the product packaging or by your pharmacist.
• Keep out of the reach of children and pets.
• This is a hazardous cytotoxic medicine. Return any unused or expired capsules to your pharmacy or hospital for safe disposal rather than discarding them in household waste.

• Never take Estramin capsule with milk, dairy products, or calcium supplements/antacids, as this reduces how well the medicine is absorbed.
• Report any leg pain or swelling, chest pain, sudden breathlessness, or signs of a stroke to your doctor immediately, as these can indicate a blood clot.
• Keep all scheduled blood test appointments so your doctor can monitor your liver function, calcium levels, and blood counts.
• If you have diabetes, monitor your blood sugar closely, as this medicine can reduce glucose tolerance.
• Report any new swelling, weight gain, or breathlessness that could suggest fluid retention or heart strain.
• Use contraceptive measures during treatment, as advised by your doctor, because of the medicine's mutagenic potential.

Missed a Dose

Overdose
