Dotidep is an antidepressant and a prescription medication. It is used to treat symptoms of Major Depressive Disorder with associated anxiety. The active component of Dotidep is Dosulepin. Depressio
n is a medical condition associated with low mood, hopelessness, difficulty sleeping, and tiredness. It occurs due to altered levels of chemical messengers in the brain such as serotonin, norepinephrine and dopamine. Anxiety is a condition characterised by increased worry and fear about routine situations. Anxiety can present with increased heart rate, sweating, restlessness, trembling, increased rate of breathing etc. Panic disorder is also a type of anxiety disorder with a feeling of loss of control and fear. Dosulepin belongs to a class of medications called tricyclic anti-depressants. The medication should be taken in the dose and duration as prescribed by the doctor.

- You should inform your doctor about any other medications you are taking. Dotidep interacts with many other medications metabolised in the body using the same enzymes.

How Does It Work?
Directions for Use of Dotidep 25 MG
- Dotidep should be taken as prescribed by a doctor only.
- It is recommended to take this medication at the same time every day.
- Swallow this medication as a whole. Do not crush, chew or break this tablet.
- Finish the full course of this medication as prescribed. Stopping Dotidep suddenly can cause withdrawal side effects. Consult your doctor before stopping.
- This medication may require 2-4 weeks for onset of action and up to 6 weeks for maximum efficacy. Do not increase the dose without explicit advice from your treating physician.
Interactions of Dotidep 25 MG
Interactions with other medicines
- Dotidep should not be used concomitantly with MAOIs (Monoamine oxidase inhibitors) or within 14 days of the use of MAOIs and vice versa. Examples of MAOIs include Selegiline, Rasagiline.
- Dotidep should not be used with medicines like tramadol, methadone, or linezolid, as it may result in extreme elevation of serotonin levels.
- Dotidep should not be used with medicines that can lower the seizure threshold.
- Dotidep should not be used with alcohol or other central nervous system depressants.
- Dotidep should not be mixed with opioid or benzodiazepines medications.
- Dotidep affects the heart rhythm and should not be used in addition to other medications that also have the same effect, as it may result in potentially life-threatening conditions. Examples include astemizole, cisapride, etc....
- Dotidep should not be used with BP medicines (anti-hypertensives) as it can increase their effect, resulting in severe lowering of BP.
- Dotidep is contraindicated in patients with hypothyroidism on treatment with Thyroxine, as this can result in abnormal heart rhythms.
