Domadol 50 MG Description
Domadol is a prescription medication available in injectable form. The active ingredient of Domadol is Tramadol 50 mg. Tramadol is used to manage severe pain, which is an uncomfortable sensation
that occurs due to the release of certain chemical substances relayed to the brain. It indicates tissue damage in the form of an injury. It can vary in severity from mild to very severe. Directions for use of Domadol should be strictly followed. The medicine should be administered as an injection by a trained healthcare professional, following the guidance of a medical doctor. It should never be self-administered. This medication is not recommended for use for more than five days in the management of acute pain. Long-term use of Domadol can be addictive and can be misused. Side effects of Domadol include nausea, dizziness, constipation, vomiting, and confusion. It is essential to inform the doctor of any underlying medical conditions and use of any other medications at the time of prescription of Domadol. Pregnant or breastfeeding women also need to inform the doctor.

Uses of Domadol 50 MG
- As per CDSCO, Domadol is used in:
- Treatment of severe acute and chronic pain
- Management of procedural and post-surgical pain
Contraindications of Domadol 50 MG
- Domadol injection should not be administered or be given with caution:
- If you are hypersensitive to any of the components of this injection.
- If you have a known or suspected intestinal obstruction, including paralytic ileus.
- If you use this medication concomitantly with alcohol; this can be life-threatening and result in respiratory depression, coma and even death.
- If you have any seizure disorders, especially those not adequately controlled with medications; Domadol is contraindicated in such cases.
- If you are under 12; this injection is contraindicated in children.
- If you are under 18 and have undergone tonsillectomy and/or adenoidectomy; this injection is contraindicated in post-operative management.
- If you have severe/acute bronchial asthma in an unmonitored setting or the absence of resuscitative equipment.
- If you have significant respiratory depression.
- If you have severe liver or kidney disease.
- If you are in labour; this injection is not meant for use during childbirth.
- If you have a head injury; this injection is not meant for pain relief in such cases.

Interactions of Domadol 50 MG
Interactions with other medicines
- Concurrent use of monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) like selegiline and rasagiline or their use within the last 14 days is contraindicated.
- This medicine can cause serotonin syndrome when used with other medicines that increase the level of serotonin in the brain; this condition is potentially life-threatening. Serotonergic medicines include antidepressants like sertraline, escitalopram, fluoxetine etc....
- It should not be used with other medications that are known to decrease the seizure threshold.
- This injection should not be used with medications like warfarin that prevent blood clotting.
- Domadol injection should not be mixed with benzodiazepines or other CNS depressants, including alcohol, as it may result in profound sedation, respiratory depression, coma, and even death.
- Always inform your doctor about your medications to prevent unwanted interactions.
