Uses of Dextin Injection 2ml

Dextin Injection is used to manage severe inflammations of joints and autoimmune disorders like rheumatoid arthritis.
It is given after surgery to avoid any sudden complications known as post-operative shock.
It is used to treat various allergies associated with the skin (eczema, erythroderma) and lung disorders (asthma attack).
It is also used in cancer therapy to reduce some specific symptoms and side effects to improve the quality of life.

Contraindications of Dextin Injection 2ml

If you are allergic to dexamethasone or any other ingredient of Dextin Injection.
If you have a bacterial infection of the blood, fungal infections, infection at joints due to TB or Gonorrhoea.
If you have any infection at the injection site.
Dextin Injection should not be used for any infection spread throughout the body.

Side effects of Dextin Injection 2ml

Side effects of Dextin Injection depend on the dose and duration of the treatment. You may experience a flare at the site of injection and other local reactions.

Pregnancy

Can I be given Dextin Injection during pregnancy?

Dextin Injection is not recommended during pregnancy as there is a risk of retarded growth and a reduction in adrenal hormones in the unborn child when used for prolonged periods. Hence, it is not advisable to take this injection. However, it can be prescribed by a doctor when the benefits of this medicine to pregnant women outweigh the risks to the unborn baby.

Breast Feeding

Can I be given Dextin Injection while breastfeeding?

It is unknown if the dexamethasone passes into the breastmilk. Hence, the Dextin Injection should be avoided while breastfeeding unless prescribed by the doctor.

Driving

Can I drive if I have been given Dextin Injection?

There is limited information about the effects of Dextin Injection on driving. However, you should not drive if you experience any side effects which can hamper your ability to be alert.

Alcohol

Can I consume alcohol if I have been Dextin Injection?

You have ulcers, bone and muscle-related disorder.
This injection if taken for long term treatment, can interfere with the growth and hormonal imbalance.

Interactions of Dextin Injection 2ml

Interactions with other medicines

Some medicines can affect the way Dextin Injection works or this medicine itself can reduce the effectiveness of other medicines taken at the same time.
Tell your doctor about all the medicines, supplements or herbals you are currently taking or might take to avoid any possible interaction.
Medicines like Rifampicin (antibiotic), Phenytoin, and Carbamazepine (used for epilepsy and seizures), Ephedrine, and Primidone can reduce the effect of Dextin Injection.
It can reduce the glucose-lowering effect of insulin and blood pressure-lowering effect of medicines used for high blood pressure and certain medicines used for heart failure such as Digoxin.
The effect of coumarin, a blood thinner is reduced when used concomitantly with Dextin and there is a risk of bleeding. Continuous monitoring is recommended.

Storage and disposal of Dextin Injection 2ml

Store Dextin Injection in the original package to protect it from light.
Do not store above 25°C. Do not refrigerate or freeze.
The product should be used immediately after dilution.
Keep it away from children and pets.
Do not use Dextin Injection if you notice the contents are of a different coloured in any way or if particles are present.
