Mode of Action
How Does It Work?
- Dapaglyn S Tablet contains a combination of sitagliptin and dapagliflozin as active substances.
- Sitagliptin indirectly increases the activity of certain chemicals in the body that increase the levels of insulin after a meal.
- Dapagliflozin blocks a certain protein in the kidneys called sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 (SGLT-2), which is responsible for the reabsorption of glucose (sugar) from the urine into the blood. This causes the removal of sugar through the urine, thereby reducing the level of blood sugar.

- Particular care should be taken if you have kidney disorders and are taking medicines for the treatment of fungal infections (ketoconazole), bacterial infections (clarithromycin) or HIV/AIDS (ritonavir).
- Caution should be exercised if you are taking medicines for the management of heart failure (digoxin).
- The use of Dapaglyn S Tablet with diuretics like furosemide and hydrochlorothiazide (used to manage fluid accumulation) may increase the risk of dehydration and low blood pressure.
- This medicine, when used together with insulin and insulin secretagogues (sulphonylurea), may cause extremely low blood sugar levels.
