Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Q: What is acne?
A: The skin has various pores through which either sweat is secreted or hair grows and a fat-like substance called sebum is secreted. Hair is absent only on the skin of palms and soles. Sebum moisturizes the skin and increases the immunity of the skin. Due to dust or dead skin cells, these pores may become blocked and swell. It causes black and whiteheads. Cutibacterium (formerly known as Propionibacterium) acnes is a bacteria usually present on the skin. These bacteria start growing in blocked pores and lead to infection-causing acne or pimples.
Q: How will I come to know if I’m allergic to D-10 Gel?
A: If you are allergic to D-10 gel, you may experience one or more of the following like red rash, swellings over the skin, uncontrollable itching, numbness, difficulty in breathing or swallowing. It is advised that you should visit a hospital at the earliest in such a case. You should also contact your doctor at the earliest if you get one or more of these symptoms after there is sun exposure on the part where you have applied D-10 gel.
Q: What should be done if D-10 Gel comes in contact with eyes, mouth, nose, broken skin or wounds accidentally?
A: If D-10 gel accidentally comes in contact with your eyes, it is advised that you should wash your eyes with lots of clean water, preferably running water. If it goes in the mouth, you are advised to rinse the mouth with lots of water. D-10 gel will have an unpleasant taste, so you should clean till it goes away. Similarly, the nose should be thoroughly rinsed if it enters nose by mistake. In case of accidental application to broken skin or wounds, rinse the wound nicely with water. In every case, it is necessary you either visit a doctor or an emergency medical facility at the earliest.
Q: What can happen to my baby if it ingests D-10 Gel during breastfeeding due to application on the chest?
A: D-10 gel if ingested by the baby during breastfeeding can cause diarrhoea, oral lesions, diaper rash or rarely - blood in stools. It is therefore advised to apply it carefully when applying on the chest if allowed by your treating doctor. If your baby shows the above symptoms, it is necessary to visit a pediatrician at the earliest and give a history of all past and present treatment.
Q: What is the minimum age for using D-10 Gel?
A: It is advised not to use D-10 Gel in children below 12 years of age without the opinion of a paediatrician.
Q: Why do some people have more acne than others?
A: The presence of acne is dependent on a number of factors like age, hormone levels, lifestyle and genes. It usually begins around teenage when hormonal changes of puberty occur. Since it is dependent on levels of male hormones, it is more in people having a hormonal imbalance, either due to growth, due to hormonal treatment, due to underlying diseases or due to stress. It also has a genetic pattern, so children born to parents who have or had more acne, have more chances of experiencing the same. Last but not least, lifestyle is the most easily controllable factor. Facial hygiene, diet, amount of daily exercise and sleep play an equally important role in some people having more acne. Along with the medications, your doctor will also advise you how to live a healthy and peaceful life which has innumerable benefits.
Q: How does acne develop on the skin?
A: Acne (or pimples as we know it), develops as excessive sebum secreted from the skin blocks the skin follicles. These blocked follicles provide a very fertile environment for various microorganisms to grow. The excessive growth of these organisms and the accumulation of more and more sebum leads to swelling, redness and pain as observed in the case of pimples.
Q: What is D 10 gel used for?
A: D-10 Gel is used for the management of acne, pimples, blemishes, whiteheads, blackheads and excess oil production on the skin.
Q: Can I use D 10 gel for eczema?
