Cepodem XP 325 tablets are an antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections in various parts of the body, including the throat, lungs, ears, urinary tract, and skin. This medication combines cefpodoxime, which inhibits bacterial growth, and clavulanic acid, which enhances the effectiveness of cefpodoxime.

  • If you have liver or kidney problems.

  • Cefpodoxime controls the growth of bacteria and kills them by inhibiting the synthesis of the bacterial cell wall. However, the bacteria make an enzyme (beta-lactamases) that can destroy Cefpodoxime.
  • Clavulanic acid inactivates this enzyme and hence helps Cefpodoxime to function optimally.

  • Concomitant use of acid-lowering medicines like antacids, ranitidine, and cimetidine with Cepodem XP 325 tablet decreases the effect of this medicine.
  • Concomitant use of Probenecid with Cepodem XP 325 tablet increases the effect of this medicine.
  • When medicines known to cause harm to the kidney such as amphotericin-B, vancomycin, and amikacin are administered along with Cepodem XP 325 tablets may increase the risk of kidney disease.
