Medical Description
Calcitas D3 capsule is a nutritional supplement that contains Vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) as its active ingredient. Vitamin D3 plays a vital role in regulating calcium and phosphorus levels in the body, which are essential for maintaining healthy bones, teeth, and muscles. This supplement is mainly prescribed in individuals with Vitamin D deficiency due to inadequate dietary intake, lack of sunlight exposure, malabsorption disorders, or increased body requirements.
The body naturally produces Vitamin D when the skin is exposed to sunlight. However, in many people, especially those who spend limited time outdoors, are elderly, bedridden, or have certain medical conditions, Vitamin D levels can fall below normal. This can result in weak bones, muscle pain, fatigue, and increased risk of fractures. Calcitas D3 capsule helps replenish Vitamin D3 levels, thereby improving calcium absorption from the intestine, preventing bone disorders like rickets in children, and osteomalacia or osteoporosis in adults.
Apart from its role in bone health, Vitamin D3 is also important for immune system regulation, muscle function, and reducing inflammation. It contributes to proper cell growth and supports overall well-being. Calcitas D3 capsule should always be taken in the prescribed dose, as excessive intake can lead to Vitamin D toxicity, resulting in high calcium levels (hypercalcemia) with symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, frequent urination, and weakness.
