Medical Description
Betadine gargle is an antiseptic liquid used to wash the throat. Betadine gargle helps relieve sore throat and other oral infections. It contains a povidone-iodine solution. Povidine-iodine kills a wide range of germs or microorganisms present in your mouth and throat. It may also be used after dental procedures to prevent infections. Betadine gargle is meant for oral use only and must not be swallowed. Betadine gargle should not be used for children below 12 years of age without taking advice from a doctor. Use Betadine gargle with the dosing cup provided along with the package. Avoid contact with this gargle with eyes and silver jewellery.

- If you are allergic to povidone-iodine or other ingredients present along with it in Betadine gargle.
- If you have any thyroid problems.
- It should not be used for more than seven days unless suggested by the doctor.

- You don't feel any improvement within seven days.
- If you feel irritation, pain, or redness persists or worsens, contact your doctor immediately.
- You have burns and are already using povidone-iodine as a topical antiseptic.
- You develop fever, rash or swelling of the throat.
- Do not let it into your eyes, if contact occurs then rinse it thoroughly.
- During pregnancy and breastfeeding, the use of Betadine (povidone-iodine preparations) should be avoided unless directed by a doctor, and its use should be limited.
