Medical Description

Bavencio injection is a cancer medication for use in adults and adolescents aged 12 years and older. It is used to treat metastatic Merkel cell carcinoma (a rare type of skin cancer). In patients with urothelial carcinoma (bladder cancer), it prevents the cancer from returning after initial treatment with chemotherapy, as well as in cases where the cancer has progressed during or after chemotherapy or within a year of treatment before surgery or after surgery.

Contraindications

Bavencio solution for infusion should be avoided in pregnancy and during treatment with this injection, and after 1 months after treatment has ended, it is advised to use an effective method of contraception.

Breast Feeding

It is uncertain if avelumab is excreted in human milk, and since antibodies and other medications can pass into breast milk, potential risks to infants should be considered.   • You are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding.
  • You have thyroid problems or a history of thyroid disorders.
  • You have diabetes or a history of endocrine disorders.
  • You have had infusion-related reactions to other medications.
  • You are on a sodium-restricted diet, as the infusion diluents may contain sodium.
  • You have had prior myocarditis, pancreatitis, or other severe immune-mediated conditions.
  • You are taking other medications, including over-the-counter drugs, vitamins, or herbal supplements.
  • You experience new or worsening symptoms such as shortness of breath, chest pain, abdominal pain, jaundice, severe fatigue, or unusual swelling.
  • You are scheduled for or recovering from an organ transplant.
  • You have a history of neurological conditions like myasthenia gravis or Guillain-Barré syndrome.

Directions for Use

This medicine will be given to you by your doctor or nurse. Self-administration is not advised.

Storage and disposal

Store Bavencio solution for infusion in the refrigerator between (2°C to 8°C) in its original carton.
