Medical Description

Amifru Tablet is a blood pressure-lowering medicine that is used to treat high blood pressure. It is also used to stop the buildup of extra water in your body. High blood pressure is a condition where the force with which your blood pushes against the walls of your blood vessels is continuously too high. This may increase the risk for medical problems like heart disease, heart attack, or stroke. Amifru Tablet contains a combination of amiloride and furosemide as active substances that work by removing the extra strain on the heart and blood vessels. Amifru Tablet is to be used only in adults aged 18 years and above. Always take this medicine in the exact dose and duration as recommended by your doctor. Do not take this medicine on your own.

Uses

  • Amifru Tablet is used for the treatment of oedema and high blood pressure in adults.

Contraindications

  • If you are allergic to amiloride, furosemide, or any other ingredient of Amifru Tablet.
  • If you are allergic to sulfonamide or sulfonamide derivatives. like sulfamethoxazole. If you are not sure what these medicines are, please confirm with your doctor.
  • If you have liver or kidney problems.
  • If you are dehydrated, have a low blood volume, or are not passing any urine.
  • If you have too little or too much potassium or sodium in your blood or are taking medicines that may change the amount of potassium in your blood.
  • If you have a disease called Addison's disease.
  • If you are under 18 years of age.

If you missed any dose of the medicine, take it as soon as you remember. If it's time for your next dose, then skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to compensate for the missed one.

  • Care should be taken if you are using medicines to treat heart failure (digoxin), high blood pressure (ramipril, losartan), pain/fever (indomethacin, aspirin), mental illness (lithium, risperidone), diabetes (sitagliptin, metformin), asthma/chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (theophylline, salbutamol), muscle relaxants (d-tubocurarine), fits/seizures (phenytoin, aminoglutethimide), inflammation (corticosteroids), gastric ulcer (carbenoxolone), laxatives (bisacodyl), depression(reboxetine), fungal infections (amphotericin), cancer (methotrexate), gout (probenecid), bacterial infections (cefalexin).
  • Sucralfate may reduce the effect of Amifru Tablet and must not be taken together.
  • Amifru Tablets may increase the risk of hearing damage when used with aminoglycosides (gentamicin) or platinum-based anticancer medicines (cisplatin).
  • The use of Amifru Tablets with cyclosporine increases the risk of gouty arthritis.
