Uses
- Amide 50 mg is used in the management of Schizophrenia.
Contraindications
- If you have an allergy to Amide 50 mg or Amisulpride
- If you are having kidney disease
- If you are having breast cancer
- If you are having prolactinoma (brain tumour- tumour of pituitary glands)
- If you are having pheochromocytoma (tumour of adrenal glands- hormone-producing glands which are located near the kidneys)

- If you experience allergic reactions to Amide 50 mg such as difficulty breathing, rashes, itching, bluish skin colour, swelling of face, tongue, or throat
- If you are under 15 years of age
- If you have epilepsy (fits)
- If you are having Parkinson's disease (nerve disease)
- If you are having hypokalemia (low potassium levels in the blood)
- If you are having diabetes (high blood sugar levels)
- If you are having agranulocytosis (decreased white blood cells)
- If you are having frequent infections, such as fever, sore throat, or mouth ulcers
Directions for Use
- Take Amide 50 mg, with food or without food as advised by your doctor. Preferably take Amide 50 mg before bedtime to avoid feeling sleepy throughout the day. Take Amide 50 mg for as long as advised by your doctor.
- Take it at the same time every day so you can get its maximum benefits due to the constant availability of the medicine in your body.
- Swallow the tablet as a whole with a glass full of water. Do not chew/ break open/ crush Amide 50 mg.
- Follow the dosage instructions given by your doctor.
- Never self-medicate. Your doctor will conduct a thorough evaluation and prescribe Amide 50 mg only if it is helpful to you. (Discuss your detailed medical history with your doctor, including any diseases you are suffering from, any allergy, any medicines you are taking, including dietary supplements or alternative therapy medicines such as Ayurvedic or Homoeopathic medicines, any hereditary diseases running in your family, medical history of your family, etc.)
- Usually, the side effects of Amide 50 mg disappear on their own with time as your body gets used to the medicine. However, if the side effects appear persistent, or seem too serious, speak to your doctor. Your physician can suggest tips to reduce the side effects or ways to deal with them. Never change the dosage or stop the medicine without consulting your doctor. It can be dangerous.
- If you develop orthostatic hypotension, rise slowly instead of suddenly getting up.
- Amide 50 mg might cause weight gain and increase blood sugar levels or cholesterol. Having a healthy diet coupled with exercise can help in keeping you healthy.
- Complete the entire course of treatment with Amide 50 mg, even if you feel better. Sudden stopping could lead to unbearable symptoms called withdrawal symptoms. Nausea, vomiting, restlessness, difficulty sleeping, abnormal movements, muscle stiffness, or sweating are some of the withdrawal symptoms.
- At the right time, your doctor might gradually taper the dosage before completely stopping it.
- Amide 50 mg might take some time to work. Do not increase the dosage of Amide 50 mg without your doctor’s approval; it can be harmful.
- Do not take any other medicines when you are on Amide 50 mg without informing your doctor; it is not safe.

Interactions with other medicines
- Seek medical advice before taking Amide 50 mg if you are on antifungals/ medicines that fight fungal infection, such as Clotrimazole, Fluconazole, Itraconazole, Miconazole, or Cloral Lozenges - changes in heart rhythm. ECG monitoring is recommended if coadministered.
- Seek medical advice before taking Amide 50 mg if you are on medicines for Parkinson’s diseases/ nerve disease, such as Levodopa - Either decreases the effects of the other. Avoid or Use Alternate Drug.
- Seek medical advice before taking Amide 50 mg if you are on medicines for reducing the heart rate, such as quinidine, sotalol, amiodarone, or disopyramide - changes in heart rhythm. ECG monitoring is recommended if coadministered.
- Seek medical advice before taking Amide 50 mg if you are on medicines for treating infections such as Sparfloxacin or Erythromycin- changes in heart rhythm. ECG monitoring is recommended if coadministered.
- Seek medical advice before taking Amide 50 mg if you are on medicines for chest infection such as Pentamidine - changes in heart rhythm. ECG monitoring is recommended if coadministered.
- Seek medical advice before taking Amide 50 mg if you are on medicines for severe pain such as morphine, indomethacin, tramadol, or pethidine - increased drowsiness and side effects.
- Seek medical advice before taking Amide 50 mg if you are on medicines for malaria such as Halofantrine - changes in heart rhythm. ECG monitoring is recommended if coadministered.
- Taking Amide 50 mg with the above-mentioned medicines might change the efficacy/ effects of medicines. It could also lead to life-threatening reactions, such as life-threatening abnormal heart rate.
