Ambrolite tablet is used to treat a productive cough. Ambrolite tablet acts by easing coughing up sputum. It is used to treat respiratory tract diseases associated with abnormal mucus secretions. You must follow your doctor's instructions carefully when taking this medicine.

Uses
- Ambrolite tablet is used to treat short-term as well as long-standing respiratory tract diseases associated with abnormal bronchial secretions.
- It is also used to treat acute attacks of chronic bronchitis in which there is inflammation of the windpipe (bronchi) leading to a long-standing cough and difficulty in breathing.
- It can also be used in the management of asthmatic bronchitis and asthma, along with other medications, to ease coughing up the sputum.
- It can also be used to ease coughing up sputum in cases of bronchiectasis, where there is breathing difficulty and a long-standing cough due to the collapse of lung tissue.
- It is also used to ease coughing up sputum in various infectious conditions, such as pneumonia, middle ear infections, paranasal sinus infections, and nasopharyngeal infections.
Contraindications
If you are allergic to ambroxol or any other ingredients of Ambrolite.

Pregnancy

Can I take Ambrolite during pregnancy?

Ambrolite is not recommended to be used during pregnancy due to limited information available on its safety, especially during the first three months.
Breast Feeding

Ambroxol passes into human milk hence Ambrolite is not recommended during breastfeeding. You should consult your doctor before using this medicine during breastfeeding.
Driving

There is limited information about the effects of Ambrolite on driving but if you do not feel well or are unable to be alert, you should avoid driving.
Alcohol

Can I consume alcohol with Ambrolite?

There is no information about the interaction of Ambrolite directly with alcohol. The breakdown of this medicine in the body takes place mostly in the liver which is damaged by alcohol. So it is advisable not to consume alcohol with this tablet.
Other General Warnings
Talk to your doctor if
- You have issues with your liver or kidneys.
- You have stomach ulcers.
- You have little or no production of cough.
- You have any respiratory tract infections.
- You are taking any other medication to treat your cough or cold.
- You have reduced mucous secretions.
- You develop any serious skin allergy after taking Ambrolite syrup.
Directions for Use
- You should take Ambrolite as directed by your doctor.
- It would be best if you took this tablet with meals.
- Your physician will decide the amount of this medicine and its frequency.
- If the cough persists for more than 14 days, contact your physician at the earliest.
Storage and disposal
- Store Ambrolite not exceeding 30 degree celsius in a clean and dry place, protected from moisture, sunlight and heat.
- Keep the medicine away from children and pets.

Overdose
If you think you have taken too much of this medicine, contact your doctor immediately or visit the nearest hospital.
Missed a Dose
- It would be best if you took the doses at the appropriate time for the desired effect.
- If you have missed any dose of Ambrolite, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it's time for your next dose, then skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dose schedule.
- Do not take a double dose of medicine to compensate for the missed one.

How Does It Work?
Ambroxol is a mucolytic agent which helps to break the mucus (sputum) and helps in easy expulsion from the respiratory tract.
Interactions
Interactions with other medicines
- Ambrolite may interact with other medicines, discuss with your doctor about all the medicines, supplements or herbal preparations you are taking. Also, you should inform your doctor if you have a planned surgery or vaccination scheduled....
- Concomitant use of medicines used to treat cough or cold (cough suppressant) with Ambrolite may affect the removal of liquified mucus by inhibiting coughing and cause congestion (stuffy nose).
- Concentrations of certain antibiotics are increased in the sputum when taken concomitantly with this tablet.
