According to the advisory issued by the Union Health Ministry, cough and cold medications should not be prescribed or dispensed to children under two years of age. These medications are generally not recommended for children under five years old. For children above that age, any use should be based on careful clinical evaluation and close supervision.

Mode of Action

How Does It Work?

Ambrohist Syrup acts on the inner lining of the respiratory tract and causes an increase in secretions of the respiratory tract. It also stimulates certain cells in the respiratory tract which help in expectoration (coughing out the respiratory secretions). Thus, by increasing the surfactant secretion and facilitating its removal, it helps to remove respiratory secretions easily and ultimately reduces cough.

  • Concentrations of certain antibiotics like Amoxicillin, Cefuroxime and Erythromycin are increased in the sputum when taken concomitantly with this syrup.
