Medical Description

Advit oral drop is a nutritional supplement for daily iron, multivitamin and zinc intake and for supporting healthy vision in babies and young children. It contains a combination of iron, multivitamins and zinc; vitamin A within the multivitamin group supports eye development and visual function, while iron and zinc support normal blood formation and growth. These nutrients help the body maintain normal tissues, make haemoglobin, the oxygen-carrying part of red blood cells, and support visual function. Give Advit drops by mouth with the supplied dropper, as advised by a paediatrician or other healthcare professional. It is not a substitute for a varied, balanced diet.

  • Blood formation support: Iron contributes to making haemoglobin, which carries oxygen in red blood cells and supports normal physical development.

If you are allergic to any ingredient of this product, do not give Advit oral drop. Ask a paediatrician before use if the child has a condition that causes excess iron, receives another iron or vitamin product, or needs a restricted mineral intake.

Dosage

Overdose

Too much iron or vitamins can be dangerous, especially for children, and may cause severe stomach pain, vomiting or unusual sleepiness. If you think you have taken too much of this product, contact your doctor immediately or visit the nearest hospital.

Missed a Dose

If you missed any dose of medicine, take it as soon as you remember. If it is time for your next dose, then skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dose schedule. Do not take a double dose of medicine to compensate for the missed one.

How does this medicine work?

The iron component supplies a mineral needed to make haemoglobin and support normal blood formation. The multivitamin group supports several body functions, including eye development and visual function through vitamin A. Zinc contributes to normal growth, tissue maintenance and immune activity.

Interactions

Interactions with other medicines

Some medicines can affect the way Advit drops work. Tell your doctor about all the medicines, vitamins and supplements you take. In particular, antacids and acid-reducing medicines may lower iron absorption, while iron and zinc may lower absorption of thyroid medicines and some antibiotics. Mention any other iron, zinc or multivitamin product.

Interactions with food items

Milk and calcium-rich foods may lower iron absorption when given together with Advit drops. Ask the child's healthcare professional how to give the product around milk feeds.
