Mode of Action
How Does It Work?
Fluticasone Propionate+Salmeterol contains the steroid medicine fluticasone, which helps reduce swelling and irritation in the airways. Salmeterol, on the other hand, aids in widening the air passages. Together, these two medications make breathing easier and relieve symptoms such as shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, and wheezing in patients with asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
Interactions
Interactions with other medicines
- Concomitant use of some blood pressure-lowering medicines (propranolol, atenolol, water pills) along with Fluticasone Propionate+Salmeterol should be done with caution.
- Medicines to treat fungal and bacterial infections (ketoconazole, itraconazole, erythromycin) and antiviral medicines (ritonavir, cobicistat-containing products) may worsen the side effects if given along with Fluticasone Propionate+Salmeterol.
