Molecule Description
Drospirenone+Ethinylestradiol is an oral contraceptive pill for women containing two hormones: drospirenone and ethinylestradiol. It prevents pregnancy by preventing the release of eggs from the ovaries, thickening cervical mucus to make it difficult for sperm to reach the egg, and changing the lining of the uterus to make it unsuitable for a fertilised egg to implant.
Take this medication exactly as prescribed by your doctor, ideally at the same time each day, with or without food. Do not take the medicine if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. You may be asked to undergo regular check-ups to monitor your blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood sugar levels while on treatment.
If you are taking medicines for high blood pressure, heart failure, high or abnormal cholesterol levels, blood thinners, anti-infectives, anti-tubercular agents, anti-HIV medicines, anti-diabetics, anti-asthmatics, painkillers, immunomodulatory medicines, or medicines for brain-related disorders, inform your doctor to avoid any potential interactions.
