Mode of Action

How Does It Work?

Ambroxol acts as a mucolytic agent. It works by loosening/thinning up the mucus in the respiratory passages and makes the mucus less sticky. Thereby helping in removing the cough out.
Terbutaline has bronchodilator properties. It relaxes the muscles of the airways and inhibits the release of inflammation-causing chemical substances. Thereby, it improves airflow to the lungs and helps make breathing easier.
Guaifenesin is an expectorant; it helps thin the mucus in the airways and makes it easier to cough out and clear the airways.
Menthol helps in soothing the throat and gives a cooling effect in airway passage.

Interactions

Interactions with other medicines

Some medicines can affect the way ambroxol+terbutaline+menthol+guaifenesin works or this medicine itself can reduce the effectiveness of other medicines taken at the same time.
Tell your doctor about all the medicines, supplements or herbals you are currently taking or might take to avoid any possible interaction.
Especially if you are taking medicines to treat your heart problems, psychiatric illnesses or are taking water pills, furosemide and hydrochlorothiazide.
Inhaled anaesthesia should also be avoided during the treatment as it may increase the risk of heart problems.
