Medical Description

Benoquin Cream contains Monobenzone as its active ingredient. It is used for permanent depigmentation of normal skin in people with extensive and widespread vitiligo to improve their appearance. This medicine lightens the skin by destroying skin cells responsible for the production of skin pigment called melanin.

Uses

Benoquin Cream is used for permanent depigmentation of normal skin in people with extensive vitiligo to improve their appearance.

Contraindications

If you are allergic to Monobenzone or any of the other ingredients of Benoquin Cream.
Dark patches of skin due to sun allergy.
Dark patches on the face due to pregnancy.
Dark patches of skin due to any skin disease.

Side effects

Temporary irritation of the skin
Temporary redness or itching of the skin
Burning sensation of skin

Precautions and Warnings

Pregnancy

Benoquin Cream is to be applied on topical surfaces and the quantities which might get absorbed from the skin is too little and there are rare chances of absorption. Still, this medicine should be used under medical supervision by a pregnant woman.

Breast Feeding

Benoquin Cream is to be applied on topical surfaces and the quantities which might get absorbed from the skin is too little and there are rare chances of absorption. It should not be applied to the breast of breastfeeding mothers or elsewhere on large areas of skin or for a prolonged period.

Driving

Benoquin Cream does not hamper your driving abilities.

Alcohol

Alcohol is not known to interact with Benoquin Cream. However, if you consume alcohol too often, discuss it with your doctor.

Other General Warnings

Talk to your doctor if

You have dark patches of skin due to any skin conditions other than extensive vitiligo.
You should use sunscreen lotion when there are chances of sun exposure while using this medicine.

Directions for Use

Use Benoquin Cream as directed by your doctor.
For external use only. Apply it on a healthy skin surface, free from cuts and wounds.
Wash your hands before and after using this medicine unless your hands are the area to be treated.
In case your eyes come in contact with this medicine, rinse your eyes with clean water immediately.

Storage and disposal

Store Benoquin Cream at temperature 15°C to 30°C in a cool and dry place.
Keep it out of the reach of children and pets.

Dosage

Overdose

As Benoquin Cream is meant for external application, cases of overdose are unlikely. However, upon accidental ingestion, contact your doctor immediately or visit the nearest hospital. If you have applied extra quantities of it, wipe out the excess of the medicine with tissue or cotton.

Missed a Dose

If you have missed applying Benoquin Cream, apply it as soon as possible. Do not over-apply this cream to compensate for the missed application.
