Medical Description
Trilosar tablet is a combination medicine used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). It contains losartan, amlodipine, and chlorthalidone, which together relax blood vessels, reduce excess fluid, and improve blood flow. By controlling blood pressure, this medicine helps reduce the risk of heart attack, stroke, and kidney damage. It is usually prescribed when a single medication is insufficient to control blood pressure effectively.
It works through three different mechanisms. Losartan blocks the action of angiotensin II, a hormone that tightens blood vessels and causes salt and water retention. Amlodipine relaxes and dilates blood vessels by blocking calcium influx into their smooth muscle, thereby improving blood flow. Chlorthalidone is a diuretic that helps the body eliminate excess salt and water through urine, reducing blood volume and lowering blood pressure. Together, they provide better, more sustained blood pressure control.
Take Trilosar tablet exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water, preferably at the same time each day. It is best taken in the daytime and can be taken with or after food. Do not crush, chew, or break the tablet. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember, unless it is almost time for your next dose. Do not double the dose to make up for a missed one.
Some people may experience side effects such as headache, dizziness, fatigue, nausea, flushing, swelling of the ankles or feet, abdominal pain, or diarrhoea. These effects are usually mild and improve as your body adjusts to the medicine. However, if you experience severe dizziness, low blood pressure, difficulty breathing, or facial or lip swelling, seek medical attention immediately. Always inform your doctor about any other medicines or supplements you are taking.
