Uses of Tran Plus Tablets
- As per CDSCO, the Tran Plus tablet can be used to lower pain and heavy blood loss in the following conditions for a short time (for a few days).
- dysmenorrhea (period pain)
- menorrhagia (heavy menstrual bleeding)
Contraindications of Tran Plus Tablets
- If you are known to have any serious allergic reaction to mefenamic acid and tranexamic acid or any active component of these Tran Plus tablets.
- If you have liver failure or other disorders that affect the liver's functioning, this medication might increase the risk of adverse effects.
- If you have irregular menstrual bleeding and the cause of it is not established.
- If you have a severe kidney-related illness.
- If you have a history of active thromboembolic disease (clots travel through the bloodstream and block an artery).

- If you have a history of severe or acute breathing problems such as asthma.

Mode of Action of Tran Plus Tablets
How Does It Work?
Tran Plus tablet consists of mefenamic acid and tranexamic acid as its two active components.
Mefenamic acid belongs to the same group of anti-inflammatory medicines (NSAIDs). It works as an anti-analgesic (pain reliever) and antipyretic (lowers fever) medicine. It works by decreasing the production of chemical substances like prostaglandins, responsible for pain and inflammation in the body. It also helps manage the body temperature by working on specific areas in the brain (hypothalamic heat-regulating centre).
Tranexamic acid is an antifibrinolytic medicine. It is given to stop or lower heavy bleeding. When bleeding occurs, the body forms clots to stop the bleeding. In some conditions, these clots break down, and the bleeding continues. This medicine works by preventing the clots from breaking down and so lowers the unwanted bleeding....
