Medical Description
T-Bact 2% Ointment is an antibiotic cream used on the skin to treat bacterial infections. It contains mupirocin as its active ingredient, which works by stopping the growth of bacteria that cause infections. Doctors commonly prescribe it for conditions like impetigo and other bacterial skin infections.
Impetigo is a contagious skin infection caused by bacteria. It usually appears as red sores, blisters, or pimple-like spots surrounded by redness. These sores may ooze fluid and form a yellowish crust. Impetigo often affects the face, arms, or legs, but can occur anywhere on the body. T-Bact ointment helps control the infection and promotes healing.
This ointment also helps relieve symptoms such as redness, swelling, pain, itching, pus formation, and rashes that are commonly associated with bacterial skin infections. Reducing the infection prevents the condition from spreading to other areas of the body or other people.
Other medicines that contain mupirocin include Mupimet 2% ointment, T Muce ointment, Mupi XL ointment, B Muce 2% ointment and M Sys ointment. Although they have the same active ingredient, the brand your doctor prescribes depends on availability and your medical needs.
Always use T-Bact 2% Ointment exactly as your doctor instructs. Apply a thin layer to the affected skin after cleaning and drying the area. Do not cover the treated skin with tight bandages unless advised by your doctor. Avoid using more than the prescribed amount, as this will not speed up healing but may increase side effects. If your symptoms do not improve or become worse, consult your doctor promptly.
