Medical Description

Sedoril XL syrup is a combination medicine used to relieve cough with thick mucus and allergy-related symptoms such as a runny nose, sneezing and watery eyes. It contains terbutaline, which relaxes tightened airway muscles, guaifenesin and ambroxol, which loosen and thin mucus, and chlorpheniramine, which reduces allergy symptoms. These actions can make mucus easier to clear and may improve airflow when airway narrowing contributes to the cough. Sedoril XL syrup is taken by mouth after shaking the bottle and measuring it with the supplied device, only as directed by a doctor.

How does this medicine work?

Terbutaline relaxes tightened airway muscles. Guaifenesin increases the watery part of mucus so it is easier to clear, while ambroxol makes thick mucus less sticky. Chlorpheniramine blocks the effects of histamine, a substance involved in allergy symptoms.
