Rifarex 400 MG Description

Rifarex 400mg tablet contains rifaximin, a derivative of rifamycin. It is an antibiotic used to treat hepatic encephalopathy, irritable bowel syndrome and traveller's diarrhoea. Hepatic encephalopath

y is a condition where the loss of brain function occurs when the damaged liver cannot remove toxins from the blood. Rifarex 400mg tablet helps relieve symptoms of abdominal distress and helps treat diarrhoea. The dose the duration of this medicine varies among individuals depending on the severity of the condition. Do not take more than the prescribed dose in 24 hours. Do not stop the medication on your own without consulting the doctor.

Do not break, crush or chew the tablet
Swallow the tablet with a glass of water
Do not take more than the recommended dose

Interactions with other medicines

Cyclosporine increases the action of Rifaximin
Rifaximin decreases the effects of warfarin, antiepileptics, antiarrhythmics, oral contraceptives

Other general Interactions

Rifaximin and Warfarin alter the prothrombin time (A clotting marker). Hence International Normalized Ratio (INR) levels need to be monitored.
