Rifakem 200 MG Description
Rifakem 200mg strip of 10-tablets contains rifaximin as the active component. Rifaximin is an antibiotic that gets converted to rifampin, which destroys bacteria. Rifakem is used to treat infectious
diarrhoea and irritable bowel syndrome with diarrhoea (IBS-D) in adults. Rifakem tablets is also used in patients with liver disease to reduce the risk of hepatic encephalopathy recurrence. This tablet can be used either alone or in combination with other medications.

Mode of Action of Rifakem 200 MG
How Does It Work?
Rifakem 200 tablets contains a molecule called rifaximin, which converts to rifampin after entering the body. Rifampin binds to an enzyme called RNA polymerase which further causes inhibition of bacterial protein synthesis. This stops bacterial growth....
Directions for Use of Rifakem 200 MG
- Take Rifakem 200 mg tablets as recommended by your doctor
- Take the tablet at once
- Do not chew, crush, or break the tablet
Interactions of Rifakem 200 MG
Interactions with other medicines
- Use of activated charcoal is not recommended along with Rifakem tablets. Use Rifakem 200 tablets at least two hours after taking activated charcoal.
- Concomitant use of warfarin causes changes in INR levels; hence, dose adjustment of warfarin may be required to maintain target INR range.
Storage and disposal of Rifakem 200 MG
- Keep out of reach of children and pets
- Store Rifakem 200 mg tablets at a temperature between 20-25 degree Celsius
- Do not use the medicine after its expiry date
Dosage of Rifakem 200 MG
Overdose
Contact your doctor or reach out to the nearest hospital immediately, in case of overdose.
Missed a Dose
Take the missing dose as soon as you recall, then go back to your regular schedule for the next dose. Do not take two doses.
