Pyzina 1000 MG Description
Pyzina is a medication used in the treatment of tuberculosis (an infectious disease caused by a bacteria, mycobacterium tuberculosis, which primarily affects lungs but can also affect other organs).
Pyzina has a bactericidal action. It acts by killing the bacteria. It is used in combination with other medicines for the treatment of tuberculosis. It is well absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract and attains its maximum concentration in the blood after two hours of intake.

Uses of Pyzina 1000 MG
- Pyzina is primarily used for the treatment of tuberculosis.
Contraindications of Pyzina 1000 MG

Other General Warnings
Talk to your doctor if
- You are taking medicines containing allopurinol and probenecid (for treatment of gout).
- You need to get your liver function tests done before taking this medicine. This medicine leads to liver dysfunction.
- You have to get your blood glucose levels regularly monitored or if you are a diabetic.
- You are getting excessive exposure to sunlight as it can lead to Photosensitivity.
- You are concomitantly using Pyzina with hormonal contraceptives as this can lead to contraceptive failure, so do not forget to tell your doctor if you are using both.
- You had an allergic reaction to any medication in the past (signs include rash, hives, shortness of breath, cough, wheezing etc.)
- Using this medication without rational evidence can lead to the development of resistance.
- Addition of foods rich in vitamin C help boost your immune system which can eventually help you fight the infection in a better way.
Mode of Action of Pyzina 1000 MG
How Does It Work?
Pyzina acts by activating an important enzyme (pyrazinamidase) which inhibits the synthesis of some important constituents of the cell membrane of the bacteria, which causes tuberculosis. One such constituent is an important fatty acid that helps maintain the integrity of the cell membrane of the bacteria. It hampers energy production important for the survival of the bacteria, i.e. mycobacterium tuberculosis....
Directions for Use of Pyzina 1000 MG
- Pyzina 1gm comes as an oral tablet formulation.
- It can be taken before or after meals.
- Swallow the tablet as a whole without crushing or breaking with a glass of water.
- Take it for as long as it is prescribed, do not interrupt the treatment before you are asked to do it.
- Don't use it if the packaging is damaged.
- Never try to increase or decrease the recommended dose as it can lead to toxicity or development of resistance against the medicine that can complicate the treatment and mandate the use of much stronger medicines....
Interactions of Pyzina 1000 MG
Interactions with other medicines
- Aceclofenac (an important painkiller) can decrease the excretion of Pyrazinamide that can lead to toxicity.
- Abacavir (antiviral medicine used for the treatment of AIDS) taken along with Pyrazinamide may decrease the excretion rate of Abacavir, resulting in a higher serum level and consequent toxicity.
- Paracetamol (important medicine for relieving fever and pain) may decrease the excretion of Pyrazinamide, leading to its toxic levels in the blood.
Interactions with food items
- Avoid having processed foods, sea food like tuna and salmon, and wine and beer.
Storage and disposal of Pyzina 1000 MG
Store this medicine away from direct sunlight and moisture.
Keep it beyond the reach of children and pets.
Do not flush the leftover medicine into the toilet.
Do not use the medication after the expiry date has passed....
Dosage of Pyzina 1000 MG
Overdose
Symptoms of overdose are nausea, vomiting, rash, itching, loss of consciousness. These symptoms can further lead to coma and death.
Call the emergency line as soon as possible or visit a nearby hospital at the earliest....
Missed a Dose
Take the missed dose as soon as possible.
Do not double the dose.
Take this medicine at fixed times in a day to avoid missing the dose.
