Protera D 40/30mg Strip Of 10 Tablets Description

Protera D Tablet is an anti-reflux medicine used to treat GERD (Gastroesophageal reflux disease). GERD is a condition where acid from the stomach comes up to the food pipe. This backflow of acid irri

tates the lining of the food pipe and leads to chest pain and heartburn. It contains a combination of pantoprazole and domperidone. This combination is used in patients in which pantoprazole alone is not able to control acid reflux. Protera D Tablet should be taken as directed by the doctor and in doses and duration as prescribed. It should be taken before meals. Before using this medicine, inform the doctor if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding and about your detailed medical history.

Uses of Protera D 40/30mg Strip Of 10 Tablets

Protera D Tablet is used to treat GERD (Gastrointestinal reflux disease), not responding to pantoprazole alone. It helps in relieving symptoms such as heartburn, chest discomfort or acidity.

Contraindications of Protera D 40/30mg Strip Of 10 Tablets

  • If you are allergic to pantoprazole or domperidone or any component of Protera D Tablet.
  • If you are taking an anti-HIV medicine called rilpivirine.
  • If you have or ever had bleeding or obstruction in the stomach or intestine.
  • If you have any liver or kidney-related problems.
  • If you have prolactin pituitary tumours (tumour of the pituitary gland).
  • If you have any heart conditions such as heart failure, heart rhythm problems, electrolyte or salt imbalance.
  • Medicines known to alter heart rhythm should not be taken along. If you are not sure which are these medicines ask your doctor.

  • You are on steroids or HIV medicines or any anti-infective medicine.

  • Consult your doctot if you are on this medicine for a long time. He/she may start you on magnesium, vitamin B12 supplements .
  • Taking this medicine for more than one year may can weaken the bones, consult your doctor.

Mode of Action of Protera D 40/30mg Strip Of 10 Tablets

How Does It Work?

  • Pantoprazole works by inhibiting a pump called the proton pump in the stomach wall, responsible for the secretion of stomach acids for digestion and hence leads to reduced acid production.
  • Domperidone is an antiemetic medicine. It works by increasing the motility of the stomach and bowel, thus prevents the backflow of the food and stomach acids towards the food pipe.
