Medical Description

Prolomet AM 25mg Tablet is a combination of two medicines, amlodipine and metoprolol. It is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). This is a condition in which the force of the blood against the blood vessel walls is too high. This can lead to symptoms such as headache, irregular heartbeat, vision changes, feeling tired, nausea, vomiting, confusion, anxiety and chest pain.

While taking Prolomet AM 25mg Tablet, it is also important to exercise regularly (such as walking), eat a healthy diet low in salt and manage your weight. These lifestyle changes can help you control your blood pressure more effectively.

Avoid eating grapefruit or drinking grapefruit juice while taking Prolomet AM 25mg Tablet. Grapefruit can increase the blood pressure-lowering effect of this medicine, which could lead to side effects. A few more examples of medicines containing amlodipine and metoprolol are Met Xl Am tablet, Revelol Am tablet, Amtas M tablet, Amlopin M tablet, Amlovas M tablet and Starpress Am Xl tablet.

Prolomet AM 25mg Tablet is not recommended for pregnant women or women who are breastfeeding. It is also not recommended for children or adolescents under the age of 18. It should be used with caution in elderly people (aged 65 years and over).

The most common side effects of Prolomet AM 25mg Tablet are dizziness, headache, tiredness, nausea, slow heart rate and stomach pain. If any of these side effects worsen, talk to your doctor.

Prolomet Am 25mg Tablet is used in the treatment of high blood pressure and is also useful for heart-related chest pain, abnormal heart rhythms and chronic heart failure.

Contraindications of PROLOMET AM 25MG STRIP OF 10 TABLETS

If you are allergic to this medicine or any of the ingredients of this medicine.
If you have any problems with your heart, liver or kidney.
If you have continuous chest pain that occurs when you are at rest, between midnight and early morning.
If you are suffering from sick sinus syndrome (abnormal heart rhythms due to malfunction of sinus node).
If you are suffering from untreated high blood pressure due to tumour in adrenal gland.
If you have a condition called metabolic acidosis (increased acidity in your body).
If you have severe low blood pressure.

This medicine may cause harmful effects on unborn baby thus should be avoided. However, your doctor may give you this medicine only if it is needed and the advantage overweighs the risk. You should always consult a doctor before starting any medicine during pregnancy.

Breast Feeding

Can I take Prolomet Am 25mg Tablet while breastfeeding?

This medicine passes into the breast milk and thus is not recommended if you are breastfeeding. The infant needs close monitoring for side effects like slowing of heart rate in such cases. You should always consult a doctor before starting any medicine while breastfeeding.

Driving

Can I drive if I have consumed Prolomet Am 25mg Tablet?

This medicine may make you dizzy and feel sleepy. You should avoid driving if you do not feel well or are unable to be alert.

Alcohol

Can I consume alcohol with Prolomet Am 25mg Tablet?

Alcohol intake along with this medicine can make you feel dizzy, lightheaded and sometimes may cause a drop in blood pressure. It is advised to limit the consumption of alcohol during the treatment.
