- Cough relief
- Pain in shoulder joints or arthritis
- Controlling symptoms of allergy due to hay fever, food, etc. and rashes
Contraindications
- Allergy to antihistamine category of medicines or chlorpheniramine
- Hypersensitivity to any other contents of the expectorant
- If monoamine oxidase inhibitor medicines (given for depression) have been taken in the last 14 days
- Along with other antihistamine medicines, including those used for cough or cold

- You are taking other medicines for cough or cold
- You suffer from obstruction in parts of the intestine that obstruct passage of food
- You suffer from glaucoma or epilepsy
- You have an enlarged prostate gland
- Your kidney or liver function is impaired
- You are above 60 years of age
- You have fructose intolerance or glucose absorption problems or sucrose insufficiency
- You have other conditions not mentioned above
- Your symptoms do not subside after some time of taking the medicine

- Clean your teeth regularly and properly to avoid risk of getting cavities
- Do not take the medicine for a long period of time

Interactions with other medicines
- Medicines for sleep troubles or anxiety may increase sleepiness and cause excess sedation if given with Pririton
- Alcohol may also cause excess sedation if given with Pririton
- The chlorpheniramine component inhibits phenytoin breakdown in the body and cause its toxicity
- Monoamine oxidase inhibitors can enhance anticholinergic effects of the chlorpheniramine
