Too much cefixime may cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea or stomach discomfort. If you think you have taken too much of this medicine, contact your doctor immediately or visit the nearest hospital.

Missed a Dose

If you missed any dose of medicine, take it as soon as you remember. If it is time for your next dose, then skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dose schedule. Do not take a double dose of medicine to compensate for the missed one.

How does this medicine work?

Cefixime blocks bacterial enzymes needed to build a strong cell wall. Without this wall, susceptible bacteria become damaged and die. It works against certain bacteria but has no effect on viruses that cause colds or flu.

Interactions

Interactions with other medicines

Some medicines can affect the way Nucef tablet works. Tell your doctor about all the medicines, vitamins and supplements you take. In particular, carbamazepine may increase cefixime levels and side effects; warfarin and other blood thinners may increase bleeding risk; antacids and acid-reducing medicines such as ranitidine or omeprazole may reduce cefixime absorption; and probenecid may increase cefixime levels.
