Medical Description

Nistami Inhalation Capsule is a medicine used for the maintenance treatment of airflow obstruction in patients with COPD (a lung condition that obstructs airflow to the lungs making breathing difficult). It helps in controlling the symptoms such as wheezing and breathing difficulty. Nistami Inhalation Capsule contains Indacaterol and Glycopyrrolate as its main ingredient. It works by relaxing the muscle of the airways. This medicine should not be used by a patient with a known allergy to Indacaterol, Glycopyrrolate or any other components. This inhaler should be used exactly as directed by your doctor and for the duration, it is prescribed. This Inhalation Capsule may not be effective in controlling short term bronchospasm and asthma.

Uses

It is used for the treatment of airflow obstruction in patients with obstructive disease of airways and lungs also known as COPD.

Contraindications

If you are allergic to Indacaterol, Glycopyrrolate or any other components of this inhaler. Do not use Nistami Inhalation Capsule to treat asthma. This medication is exclusively indicated for the maintenance treatment of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD).

Directions for Use

  • Use Nistami Inhalation Capsule as directed by your doctor.
  • The medicine is taken as an inhaler.
  • Check the expiry date of the medicine and medicine which is expired should not be used.
  • This medicine should not be used longer than you have been told.

Storage and disposal

  • Keep it out of the reach of children and pets
  • Do not store above 25°C.
  • It should be stored in a closed container at room temperature, away from heat, moisture and direct light.

Dosage

Overdose

Overdose may lead to nausea, vomiting, dizziness, lightheadedness, blurred vision, increased eye pressure, difficulties in passing urine. If you think you have taken too much of this medicine, contact your doctor immediately or visit the nearest hospital

Missed a Dose

In case you have missed any dose of this medicine, take it as soon as you remember. If its time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dose schedule. Do not take a double dose of medicine to compensate for the missed one.

How Does It Work?

Nistami Inhalation Capsule works by combined mechanism of its two ingredients. It dilates or relaxes the airways and relieves the symptoms such as difficulty in breathing, wheezing and coughing by making it easier for air to get in and out of the lungs.

Interactions

Interactions with other medicines

  • Tell your doctor about all other medicine, supplement or herbal preparations you are currently taking or might take.
  • Do not use Nistami Inhalation Capsule concurrently with other medications containing long-acting beta-agonists (LABAs) or long-acting muscarinic antagonists (LAMAs), as this can cause a dangerous overdose resulting in severe heart palpitations and dry mouth.
  • Blood pressure medicines belonging to the class of beta-blockers such as atenolol, propranolol and medicines used for eye conditions such as timolol can reduce the effectiveness of this medicine.
  • Medicines that can lower the amount of potassium in your body such as steroids (prednisolone), water pills and medicines for breathing problems (such as theophylline).
