Methotrexate belongs to the class of medications known as antimetabolites. It inhibits the growth and multiplication of cells slowing the growth of cancer cells. Directions for Use of Neotrexate 5 MG
- Take this tablet for the dose and duration prescribed by your physician
- Do not break, chew or crush this tablet
- Swallow the tablet with a glass of water
Interactions of Neotrexate 5 MG
Interactions with other medicines
- Concurrent treatment with live vaccine and methotrexate may lead to severe antigenic reactions
- Concomitant use of general anaesthesia may increase the antifolate effect of methotrexate
- Concomitant use of antipsychotics increases the risk of agranulocytosis
- The risk of hepatotoxicity increases with the simultaneous use of retinoids
- Co-administration with NSAIDs may increase and prolong serum methotrexate concentrations
- Concomitant use of sulfamethoxazole and folate antagonists increases the risk of haematological toxicity
- Concomitant use of loop diuretics reduces the excretion of methotrexate, thereby increasing the risk of toxicity
- Neomycin, when co-administered with methotrexate, reduces the absorption of methotrexate
