- Acute intermittent porphyria (group of diseases involving defects in heme metabolism)
- Sinus bradycardia (Slow heartbeat and slow heart rate)
- Sino-atrial block, second and third degree A-V block
- Adams-Stokes syndrome
- Treatment with delavirdine

Consumption of alcohol affects the Neofast injection adversely. While acute consumption of alcohol like consuming alcohol in excess decreases the efficiency of Neofast injection, chronic alcoholism intensifies the effect of injection. Thus if you are addicted to alcohol, there is an increased risk of side effects. Therefore, please speak to your doctor if you have a habit of drinking alcohol before getting the medication.

Mode of Action of Neofost 75 MG
How Does It Work?
Fosphenytoin of the Neofast injection is an inactive form of phenytoin. Once injected it rapidly converts into phenytoin that blocks the reflex for seizures by preventing the abnormal electrical activities in the brain. It does so by modulating the voltage-dependant sodium and calcium channels of neurones and inhibiting the calicium flux across the neuronal membranes....

Interactions of Neofost 75 MG
Interactions with other medicines
- Paroxetine or sertraline when co-administered with phenytoin may lower the seizure threshold
- There is a significant increase in blood glucose levels and therefore the dosage of diabetic medications like insulin or oral antidiabetic agents (glibenclamide, tolbutamide) may have to be increased
- Co-administration of Rifampicin and phenytoin may decrease plasma concentration of phenytoin by CYP2C mechanism
- Co-administration of Chloramphenicol may increase plasma concentration of phenytoin

Keep the neofost 2ml injection vial refrigerated at temperatures between 2 °C and 8 °C. Store out of reach from children. Do not use the medication past the date of expiry mentioned on its label.
