Nebistar 2.5 MG Description
Nebistar Tablet contains nebivolol as its active ingredient. This medicine helps in lowering high blood pressure, thus helps to reduce the risk of serious heart diseases and stroke. It relieves chest
pain and regularizes heartbeats. This medicine is also advised in elderly patients as a combination therapy for pumping disorders of the heart (chronic heart failure). This medicine is not advised in women who are pregnant or lactating. This medicine is to be taken in the correct dosage and for the exact duration as prescribed by your doctor. This medicine is to be taken cautiously if you are already taking a blood pressure-lowering medicine, medicines to treat diabetes or an overactive thyroid.

Uses of Nebistar 2.5 MG
- It is used to treat high blood pressure.
- In patients above 70 years of age, it can also be used to manage a condition of chronic heart failure (mild to moderate)(a condition wherein the heart doesn’t pump a sufficient amount of blood to the bodily organs) along with standard therapy....
Contraindications of Nebistar 2.5 MG
- If you are allergic to the active ingredient nebivolol or any other ingredients in this tablet.
- If you are suffering from liver disease.
- If you have/had a history of heart attack or heart disorder like heart failure.
- If you are on medications for heart failure.
- If you have a serious breathing problem like asthma.
- If you are suffering from a disorder of irregular heartbeats (sick sinus syndrome, sino-atrial block).
- If you are suffering from low blood pressure.
- If you are experiencing heartbeats slower than regular (bradycardia).
- If you have a tumour of the adrenal gland (a gland that produces hormones to regulate your body process, blood pressure, immune system and response to various triggers like stress) Pheochromocytoma.
- If you have poor blood circulation.
- If you are consuming medicines with ingredients floctafenine (an anti-inflammatory agent) and sultopride (used to treat brain-related disorders).
- If you are suffering from excessive acid production in the body due to the body's inability to excrete acid/imbalance in the body's acid-base levels (metabolic acidosis).

Other General Warnings
- You are pregnant or are planning for a pregnancy or are breastfeeding/lactating.
- You are planning for any surgery as nebivolol reacts with certain medicines used to give anaesthesia during the surgery.
- You are allergic to any active or non-active ingredients in the tablet.
- You are suffering from liver and/or kidney diseases.
- You are suffering from a condition wherein your heart is not able to pump enough blood to meet the body's demands (heart failure).
- You have poor blood circulation in your arms and legs (Raynaud's disease characterised by cramp-like pain on walking or movement.
- You are diabetic (this medicine is known to mask low blood sugar symptoms like trembling, shaky movements, fast heartbeats).
- You are suffering from an overactive thyroid gland (hyperthyroidism), as the medicine may mask the symptoms of an overactive thyroid gland such as a fast heart rate (tachycardia).
- You have experienced recurrent episodes of chest pain even at rest typically at night (prinzmetal's angina).
- You experience breathing difficulties or have lung diseases, nebivolol may further increase breathing problems.
- You have skin allergies (psoriasis) or rashes, as the condition may worsen with the use of this medicine.
- You wear contact lenses, as nebivolol may make your eyes dry.
- You are allergic to lactose as the medicine preparation contains lactose.
- You have or you had any medical history and are taking any medications on a regular basis.

How Does It Work?
Directions for Use of Nebistar 2.5 MG
- Take this tablet as a whole as per the dosage recommended by your doctor.
- Swallow this tablet with a glass of water.
- It is recommended to take this medicine at a fixed time every day for the best results.
Interactions of Nebistar 2.5 MG
Interactions with other medicines
- Concomitant use with an anti-inflammatory agent like floctafenine is not recommended as it may interfere with the body's compensatory mechanism of dealing with low pressure, thereby causing a greater heart-related risk....
- Concomitant use with medicines used to treat brain disorders: Sultopride is contraindicated as it may give rise to irregular heart rhythms (ventricular arrhythmias).
- Other medicinal products are known as calcium channel blockers for high blood pressure or other heart problems such as amlodipine, felodipine, lacidipine, nifedipine, nicardipine, nimodipine, nitrendipine should be used with caution while taking this medicine as it may worsen the effect of calcium channel blockers leading to unwanted effects....
- A certain class of medicines that are used to treat high blood pressure like verapamil, diltiazem, clonidine, guanfacine, moxonidine, methyldopa, rilmenidine, amlodipine, felodipine, lacidipine, nifedipine, nicardipine, nimodipine, nitrendipine)....
- Medicines to treat abnormal heart rhythms such as amiodarone, quinidine, hydroquinone, cibenzoline, flecainide, disopyramide, lidocaine, mexiletine, propafenone; medicines to treat mood and/or other brain disorders such as paroxetine, fluoxetine, thioridazine; medicines used to treat fits, sleeplessness and anxiety, baclofen (a muscle relaxant), medicines to treat heart failure (digoxin), medicinal products for asthma, blocked nose or certain eye disorders such as glaucoma (increased pressure in the eyes) or dilation of the pupil have a blood pressure lowering property thus when nebivolol is used with all these medicines there is a chance of extreme lowering of blood pressure that can be dangerous....
- Medicinal products such as terbinafine (for fungal or yeast infections), bupropion (to help in the reduction of smoking), chloroquine (for malaria or rheumatoid arthritis), levomepromazine (for psychoses), paroxetine, fluoxetine, thioridazine (for mood disorders) should not be used while taking Nebistar Tablet as it affects the metabolism and action of this medicine....
- This medicine should be cautiously used if you are taking medicines to control high blood sugar levels (diabetes mellitus) as nebivolol may mask the effects of low blood sugar levels (tremors, faster heartbeats)....

Overdose
- Taking this medicine in a dosage higher than the recommended dosages can have serious effects, symptoms of which are as follows: slow heart rate, weakness, pale skin, tiredness, sweating, nausea, vomiting, sudden hunger, confusion, feeling irritated, sudden changes in mood, shaky uncontrolled body movements, fits, difficulty in breathing....
