Medical Description

Mycamine Powder For Injection is an antifungal medicine that contains micafungin sodium. It is used to manage fungal infections in the body. It works by blocking the production of 1,3-beta-D-glucan, an essential component of the fungal cell wall that is not present in human cells. Without a strong cell wall, the fungus cannot survive. Mycamine Powder For Injection is given by a doctor or nurse as an intravenous (IV) infusion in a hospital or specialist healthcare setting. Mycamine Powder For Injection may cause side effects such as diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, fever, headache, and low platelet and neutrophil counts. It can also cause infusion reactions (such as rash, itching, and facial swelling), irritation at the infusion site, and effects on the liver, kidneys, and red blood cells. Warning signs that need urgent medical attention include signs of a severe allergic reaction, hemoglobin protein in the urine (hemoglobinuria) or signs of breakdown of red blood cells, yellowing of the skin or eyes, reduced kidney function, a severe skin reaction, rash, itching, or swelling of the face during the infusion. Before starting Mycamine Powder For Injection, you should discuss your medical history with your doctor in detail, which includes any previous allergic reaction to micafungin or other echinocandins, any liver, kidney, or blood problems, and pregnancy status, because the medication may harm a developing baby. Patients should also tell their doctor about all medicines they are taking, especially sirolimus, nifedipine, and itraconazole.
