Montas-FX Tablet
Description
Montas Fx tablet is an anti-allergic medicine used for the management of symptoms associated with allergic rhinitis, commonly known as hay fever. Allergic rhinitis is a condition in which the inside of your nose becomes inflamed or swollen due to an allergen, leading to symptoms such as a runny or stuffy nose, blocked airways, sneezing, itching, and watery eyes. This medication contains a combination of two active components, montelukast and fexofenadine, which work together to alleviate these allergic symptoms. Montelukast operates by blocking the action of leukotrienes, a type of allergic mediator, while fexofenadine blocks the action of histamine, a natural substance produced by the body during an allergic reaction.
You should take this medication as directed by your doctor and swallow the whole tablet with a sufficient amount of water. It can generally be taken with or without food. If you have a sensitive stomach, your doctor might recommend taking it with a meal. It's essential to continue taking the medicine even if your allergy symptoms subside before the prescribed duration is complete, as this could lead to a recurrence of your symptoms. This medication is not intended for use in acute asthma attacks or for the treatment of bacterial infections.
You should maintain a minimum gap of 2 hours between taking this medication and antacid medicines containing aluminium and magnesium. Certain fruit juices, such as grapefruit, orange, or apple juice, may interfere with the activity of this medicine and should be avoided. It is also advised to avoid consuming alcohol, especially if you have liver disease, as it can worsen side effects like dizziness and drowsiness. Inform your doctor about all the medications, supplements, or herbal products you are currently taking to prevent possible interactions, particularly if you are taking antibiotics, antifungals, antidepressants, or medications that act on the brain.
It may cause some side effects, including dizziness, headache, drowsiness, nausea, indigestion, or stomach pain. You should avoid driving or operating any machinery if you experience dizziness or drowsiness. For women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, this medication should only be used if considered essential by your doctor during pregnancy, and it should not be consumed while breastfeeding.
