Mitpin tablet is an antidepressant prescription medication used to manage the symptoms of all types of depression. Symptoms of major depressive disorder in adults include restlessness, tension, anxie

ty, irritability, loss of interest. The active ingredient in Mitpin 15 mg tablets is Mirtazapine. The mode of action of Mitpin 15 mg tablets is by stabilising the levels of specific chemical messengers in the brain to manage mood changes and improve behaviour. When used in reasonable amounts, this medicine does not cause addiction. However, there may be physical dependency (symptoms occur when the medicine is not taken) in people using Mitpin tablets for a long time. Mirtazapine medication is not approved for use in children. There are a few side effects of Mitpin tablets, such as sleeplessness, constipation, low sexual desire, etc. Typically these side effects do not require medical attention. Nevertheless, if they persist, it is advised to consult a doctor. The dosage of Mitpin tablets should be carefully monitored. These tablets should be used with caution as they tend to cause mood changes and suicidal thoughts. Sudden stoppage of this medicine can cause withdrawal symptoms like irritation, sweating, low heart rate, vomiting, etc.

As per CDSCO and USFDA, Mitpin tablets are antidepressant medicines used to manage symptoms of all types of depression.

Contraindications of Mitpin 15 MG

Do not take Mitpin tablets or use caution:
If you have a known allergy to any component of this tablet
If you have taken other antidepressants, such as monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs), in the last 14 days; it can cause severe adverse effects
If you have self-harming or suicidal thoughts
If you have low sodium levels (hyponatremia)
If you have acute mania and are diagnosed with bipolar disorder
If you have severe renal or liver impairment
If you have a severe heart illness such as a recent heart attack, heart rhythm problem such as long QT syndrome.
If you have agranulocytosis (low white blood cells); this medicine can increase the chance of infection
If you are diagnosed with angle-closure glaucoma (an eye condition associated with an increase in fluid pressure in the eye); this medicine worsens the condition
If you have uncontrolled hypertension
If you have a history of seizure disorder

Pregnancy

Breast Feeding

Take Mitpin tablets exactly in the prescribed dose and the duration.
Do not increase the dose of Mitpin tablets, even if you do not notice its effects.
Try to swallow the whole pill with a glass of water; do not break or chew it.
You can take Mitpin tablets with or without food.
Do not use this medicine if its packaging is already open or damaged.
Do not abruptly stop taking Mitpin tablets as this can cause side effects.
Avoid taking it with other medication without informing your doctor.

Interactions with other medicines

Taking Mitpin tablets along with other antidepressant medications such as linezolid, diazepam, fluoxetine, etc., can cause severe reactions.
Using high doses of opioid painkillers, such as tramadol, with Mitpin tablets can cause extreme drowsiness and other side effects.
Combining Mitpin tablets with blood thinners like aspirin, warfarin, etc., can increase the risk of abnormal bleeding. Monitor INR (test for bleeding) while using them.
Inform your doctor if you are using certain antibiotics, HIV medicines, etc., before starting your Mitpin regime.
Cimetidine can increase the levels of Mitpin tablets and cause side effects.
