Medical Description

Mirel Kit is used to manage a heart attack by helping dissolve blood clots that block blood flow to the heart muscle. It contains Reteplase, the active ingredient, which is a tissue plasminogen activator (tPA), a clot-dissolving medicine. Reteplase is a recombinant plasminogen activator that converts the body’s plasminogen into plasmin. Plasmin breaks down the fibrin mesh that holds a blood clot together, helping dissolve the clot and restoring blood supply to heart muscle. Mirel Kit is given by a trained healthcare professional as an intravenous injection in a hospital setting. Bleeding is the most common side effect and is most commonly seen at the injection or puncture sites, in the stomach and intestines, or in the urinary tract. Bleeding in the brain (intracranial hemorrhage) is less common but can occur in older patients and in people with high blood pressure. Warning signs that need to be reported immediately to your doctor and urgent medical attention include bleeding that does not stop with pressure, signs of bleeding inside the body, symptoms of a stroke, and signs of a severe allergic reaction such as rash, itching, redness, swelling of the tongue, low blood pressure, or difficulty breathing. Cholesterol embolism can also occur, with signs such as a lace-like purple skin pattern (livedo reticularis), purple toes, and kidney failure. Before starting Mirel Kit, you should discuss your complete medical history with your doctor, including any active internal bleeding, recent stroke, recent brain or spine surgery or serious head trauma, brain tumors or abnormal blood vessels or aneurysms, bleeding disorders, and severe uncontrolled high blood pressure. Pregnancy status, previous allergic reactions, and any blood-thinning medicines being taken should also be discussed with your doctor.
