Medistat 5 MG Description

Medistat 5mg nasal spray is a prescription medication belonging to a class of medicines called benzodiazepines. The active ingredient in Medistat 5mg nasal spray is Midazolam, in the strength of 5mg.

Medistat 5mg nasal spray is used to induce sleepiness prior to therapeutic procedures like colonoscopy and endoscopy. That is why it is known as procedural sedation or analgesia. It reduces anxiety and pain during medical procedures. Medistat 5mg nasal spray also treats sudden epileptic attacks or seizures. Epilepsy is a brain disorder in which the affected person experiences sudden and uncontrolled variations in the electrical activity of brain cells that results in uncontrolled movements for a set time. The mode of action of Medistat 5mg nasal spray is by increasing the levels of a chemical messenger in the brain called gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), which results in drowsiness. It also helps relax muscles and feelings of anxiety and prevents fits in epilepsy by calming brain cells. The doctor's directions for use of Medistat 5mg nasal spray should be strictly followed. It's advisable to adhere to the dosage schedule given by the doctor and take medicine on time. This ensures that a certain level of the medication is maintained in the body system. Sudden stoppage of this medicine can cause withdrawal symptoms. Some common side effects of Medistat 5mg nasal spray include headache, drowsiness, dizziness, nasal discomfort, runny nose, and throat irritation.
