Mecofol-OD Tablet

• Mecofol Od Tablet is used to treat vitamin B12 deficiency and megaloblastic anaemia (a blood disorder caused by vitamin B12 deficiency).
• It is also used to treat a painful nerve disease called peripheral neuropathy.

Other General Warnings

• You have any existing medical condition like diabetes, hypertension, kidney or liver problem.
• You are taking other medications or supplements, or following any complementary or integrative health approaches.
• You should not take Mecofol Od Tablet if you are allergic to any of the components of this supplement.
• You have any planned surgery or operation. You may be asked to stop taking these products at least 2-3 weeks ahead of the procedure.
• You have anaemia that has not been investigated.
• You take metformin, a proton pump inhibitor, or an H2 blocker long term.
• You have Leber's hereditary optic neuropathy, or any unexplained vision loss.
• You take any other vitamin or nerve supplement, so you don't double up on the same vitamin.

• Take Mecofol Od Tablet as directed by the doctor. Follow all the instructions given.
• Open the pack and take the tablet. Place it under the tongue or between your cheeks and gums until it completely dissolves.
• Do not take it more than the recommended.
• Swallow the tablet with a glass of water.
• Take it at about the same time each day.
• Keep taking it for as long as your doctor advises. Nerve recovery is slow, so treatment often continues for months.

• Store Mecofol Od Tablets in a cool and dry place away from light and moisture.
• Keep it out of the reach of children and pets.
• Discard any unused medicine properly.
• Keep it in the original strip until you take it.
• Do not use it after the expiry date printed on the pack.

• Avoid taking antacids, certain antibiotics (like chloramphenicol), or bisphosphonates at the same time; wait at least 2 hours.
• Inform your doctor if you have kidney, liver, or heart problems before starting this supplement.
• If you are scheduled for surgery, inform your doctor, as you may be advised to stop this medicine 2–3 weeks prior.
• Remember that supplements should not replace a healthy and balanced diet.
• Include natural sources of Vitamin B12 in your diet, such as fish, poultry, eggs, and dairy products.
• Nerve symptoms improve slowly. Keep taking it for as long as your doctor advises rather than stopping when you feel better.
• If you have diabetes and reduced sensation, check your feet regularly, as an injury can go unnoticed.
• Tell your doctor if numbness or tingling is new, spreading or getting worse.

• Vitamin B12 is essential for the functioning of the brain and nerves, for the production of red blood cells and for DNA synthesis.
• It also plays a major role in protein and fat metabolism, fertility and the functioning of various hormones. It exists in different forms like Cyanocobalamin or Methylcobalamin.
• Deficiency of vitamin B12 can lead to anaemia, neurological changes and neuropathies.
