Medical Description

Maxcoff T Syrup is given to alleviate symptoms of common colds and coughs such as those occurring in seasonal flu and allergic conditions. It provides temporary relief from stuffy nose, dry cough, irritation in the throat, and itchy, watery eyes. Maxcoff T Syrup is a combination of two active ingredients, codeine and triprolidine. Dry cough occurs as a reaction to irritation or trickle-like feeling in the throat. Stuffy nose is due to congestion in the nose during the flu. The active ingredients of Maxcoff T Syrup decrease the action of a centre in the brain responsible for stimulating cough reflex. They also lower the feeling of pain. In addition, Maxcoff T Syrup reduces a substance in the body that causes nose and sinus congestion in allergic conditions. This helps alleviate runny and stuffy nose Maxcoff T Syrup should be administered with caution in older adults above 65 years as the side effects may be more pronounced in them.

Mode of Action

How Does It Work?

Maxcoff T Syrup has two active ingredients in it, namely codeine and triprolidine. Codeine decreases the activity of the centre in the brain that induces coughing reflex. This helps relieve the dry irritating cough. Codeine also brings relief in the pain caused by bouts of cough. Triprolidine acts on a specific substance in the body that makes the body sensitive to allergy-causing material. It blocks this substance, thereby relieving itchy and trickling feeling in the throat, runny nose, and watery red eyes. It also helps in relieving congestion of the nose and sinuses by decreasing the swelling of the blood vessels in the nose. These medicines bring temporary relief in the symptoms.

Interactions with other medicines

  • Medicines used to manage severe pain, specifically opioids such as fentanyl, morphine, oxycodone, tramadol.
  • Medicines for depression like monoamine oxidase inhibitors.
