Losar H Tablet

• If you are allergic to losartan, hydrochlorothiazide or any other ingredients of Losar-H tablet.
• If you are allergic to sulfonamide medicines such as co-trimoxazole. If you are not sure what these medicines are, please confirm with your doctor.
• If you have diabetes or kidney problems and taking medicines for treating high blood pressure like aliskiren.
• If you have a low level of potassium and sodium or high levels of calcium in your blood.
• If you have liver disorders and problems related to the bile duct (a canal connecting the liver to the intestine) like cholestasis.
• If you have kidney disease due to which you are not producing enough urine.
• If you have gout.
• If you are pregnant for more than 3 months.

Other General Warnings

• You have a history of swelling of the face, lips, throat, or tongue due to water retention.
• You experience fainting and giddiness, especially after the first dose, a sign of low blood pressure.
• You are planning a pregnancy.
• You have liver, kidney, or any heart-related problem or disease.
• You have been experiencing fluid loss within your body due to diarrhoea, vomiting, etc.
• You are suffering from primary aldosteronism (a condition of excess production of the hormone aldosterone from the adrenal glands).
• You have diabetes, an electrolyte imbalance of sodium, magnesium, and potassium, or have symptoms of dryness of mouth, thirst, drowsiness, muscle pain, nausea, and vomiting.
• You have gout, bronchial asthma, or any autoimmune diseases like systemic lupus erythematosus.

• Losar-H tablet should be taken as directed by your doctor.
• Swallow it whole with a glass of water.
• Do not cut, break or chew the medicine.
• It would be best if you took it at a fixed time for optimal results.
• Do not consume more than the dose prescribed by your doctor.

• Store Losar-H tablet below 30°C protected from light and moisture.
• Keep it away from children and pets.

• Losar H tablet is a blood pressure-reducing medicine. It is used to treat high blood pressure.
• Take this tablet as prescribed by your doctor. Do not increase or decrease the dose without consulting your doctor.
• You should take it at a fixed time every day for better results.
• Inform your doctor if you have any medical conditions before taking Losar H tablet.
• It is recommended that, in addition to taking Losar H on time, you make certain lifestyle changes. Among these changes are eating a low-fat, low-salt diet, maintaining a healthy weight, exercising for 30 minutes every day, not smoking, and limiting alcohol consumption.
• Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding before taking this tablet, as it may not be safe for use during pregnancy and lactation.
• Missing a dose of your blood pressure medication can lead to serious health problems. If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember.
• Keep Losar H tablet out of reach of children.

How Does It Work?

• Losar H tablet contains a combination of hydrochlorothiazide and losartan as active ingredients
• Losartan lowers blood pressure by blocking the action of a substance called angiotensin responsible for narrowing the blood vessels and increasing blood pressure.
• Hydrochlorothiazide acts by increasing the production of urine and the loss of water and salt from the body, thereby lowering the blood pressure. Both the medicines act by different mechanisms resulting in effective control of blood pressure.

Interactions with other medicines

• Some medicines can affect the way Losar H tablet works or this medicine itself can reduce the effectiveness of other medicines taken at the same time.
• Tell your doctor about all the medicines, supplements, or herbals you are currently taking or might take to avoid any possible interactions.
• Especially if you are taking medicines to treat high blood pressure, heart failure, high/abnormal cholesterol levels, blood clots, diabetes infections, asthma, pain, immunomodulatory medicines, or medicines for brain-related disorders.
• Your blood potassium levels may go down if you are taking steroids and antifungals like amphotericin.
• Your blood potassium levels may increase if you are taking potassium supplements (amiloride, spironolactone) and trimethoprim.
• You may experience low blood sugar if you are taking medicine for treating diabetes like insulin and metformin along with this medicine.
• You may experience abnormal heart rhythms if you are taking medicine for heart failure like digoxin.
