Lonafest Md 0.5mg Tab contains clonazepam as its active ingredient. Clonazepam belongs to the group of benzodiazepines and acts by regulating chemicals in the brain in order to reduce brain activity.
It primarily aids in the treatment of psychiatric ailments like anxiety disorders, panic disorders, to prevent and control epileptic fits or seizures, and in cases of mild sleep disorders. Anxiety disorders present themselves as deep, strong and sustained feelings of worry, fear and indecisiveness in daily life activities, which hampers a person's social and mental progress. It can cause depression if left untreated. Epilepsy is a brain disorder caused by an overactive brain and is characterised by seizures and uncontrolled body movements. Lonafest Md 0.5mg Tab is an orally dissolving tablet that can be taken with or without food. Lonafest Md 0.5mg Tab can be prescribed for patients under the age of 18 based on their health and weight. Lonafest Md 0.5mg Tab carries the risk of habit-formation over prolonged use, therefore patients with a known history of substance abuse should be monitored regularly.

Mode of Action of Lonafest Md 0.5 MG
How Does It Work?
The active ingredient present in Lonafest Md 0.5mg Tab is clonazepam. Clonazepam is a benzodiazepine. It acts by binding itself to specific GABA receptors in the brain, increasing its activity to stop other neurotransmitters (like serotonin) from sending signals to the brain. It helps to reduce the overactivity/excitability of the brain.
GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid) is known as the relaxant of the central nervous system, and it promotes calm and improves sleep quality. Thus, Lonafest Md 0.5mg Tab alleviates symptoms of anxiety and decreases brain activity to help with seizures and sleep problems....
Directions for Use of Lonafest Md 0.5 MG
- Lonafest Md 0.5mg Tab is taken by keeping above/below the tongue and dissolving in the mouth without water. Do not chew or crush it.
- Lonafest Md 0.5mg Tab can be taken with/without food.
- For optimal pharmacological effects, Lonafest Tab should be taken at the same time every day.
- Do not alter the dose without consulting your physician.
- Do not stop taking Lonafest Md 0.5mg Tab suddenly as it may cause withdrawal symptoms like dizziness, headaches, and sleep issues.
Interactions of Lonafest Md 0.5 MG
Interactions with other medicines
- The following medications are known to have adverse reactions with Lonafest Md 0.5mg Tab :
- Oxycodone (opioids) - can cause breathing difficulties, which can be fatal if not managed properly.
- NSAIDs like aspirin and anticoagulants like warfarin can increase the risk of bleeding episodes.
- Sedatives/hypnotics can increase the risk of breathing problems due to severe respiratory depression.
- Cimetidine and Lonafest Md 0.5mg Tab taken together may cause severe side effects like confusion, dizziness and fatigue.
- Rifampicin (anti-tuberculosis) can cause severe liver problems.
- Sodium Oxybate and Lonafest Md 0.5mg Tab may cause serious side effects like breathing difficulties, low blood pressure, coma, and even death.
