Medical Description

Liser Tablet is a prescription medication. It manages various conditions like major depressive disorder, anxiety, panic disorders, etc. Its main ingredient is sertraline. It is an antidepressant. Management of premenstrual dysphoric depression, social anxiety, and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) are some of the other uses of Liser Tablets. Depression, a type of mood disorder, causes persistent thoughts and feelings of sadness, loneliness, anger, etc. Liser Tablets work by calming overworked nerves in the brain and improving mood and memory. There are also many side effects of Liser tablets, so the medicine must be carefully monitored. Take the Liser Tablet in the exact dosage and at the same time every day to maintain steady levels in the body. Do not change the dosage of Liser Tablet without informing your doctor, and try not to stop using it abruptly. Instead, the dose should be tapered slowly, as it can lead to unwanted withdrawal symptoms, such as palpitations, sleep disturbances, anxiety, etc. This medicine can cause dependency in a few people. Liser tablets can also increase suicidal behaviour in young adults and children.

  • As per CDSCO and USFDA, Liser Tablet is used in the following conditions
  • Symptoms associated with major depressive disorder
  • Panic disorder and social anxiety (reduces the state of fear)
  • Premenstrual dysphoric disorder - a depression that happens before menstruation
  • Generalized anxiety disorder (reduces excessive, exaggerated anxiety and fear about day to day life events for no obvious reason)
  • Repetitive thoughts and actions in obsessive-compulsive disorder - a pattern of unwanted thoughts and fears along with repetitive behaviours.
  • Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)

Contraindications

  • If you have an allergic reaction to sertraline, do not use Liser medication. It can lead to itching, rashes, swelling of the face, eyes, lips, throat, difficulty breathing, and other allergic reactions.
  • If you have a known history of substance or alcohol addiction.
  • If you notice having suicidal thoughts or self-harmful behaviour.
  • If you have a liver condition.
  • Do not administer Liser Tablet to children below 18 years of age, except for obsessive-compulsive disorder.

Liser Tablet can be unsafe in pregnant women, especially in the third trimester. It can increase the risk of persistent pulmonary hypertension (increased blood pressure in the lungs) and withdrawal symptoms in the newborn. Other potential effects can be premature birth and weight changes in the baby. It is only prescribed in life-threatening situations.

Directions for Use

  • Take Liser Tablet exactly in the dose and duration prescribed by the doctor.
  • Do not exceed the recommended dosage of Liser Tablet, even if you do not see any changes.
  • Take it at the same time daily to maintain steady levels in the body.
  • Take Liser Tablet as a whole with a glass of water and do not crush, chew or break it into pieces.
  • You can take the Liser Tablet before or after consuming a meal.
  • Do not stop using Liser Tablet abruptly as it can cause mild side effects.

Storage and disposal

Store Liser Tablets in dry conditions and at room temperature. Keep this medicine away from direct sunlight and humid conditions. Keep Liser Tablets away from pets and children. Dispose of the packaging after use. Throw away Liser tablets if the package has been already opened or damaged. Check the expiration date before taking these tablets. Do not use Liser medication if it's past the expiration date.

Liser Tablet overdose can cause tremors, lethargy, nausea, dizziness, vomiting, agitation, confusion, fever, increased heart rate, drowsiness, and shakiness. Overdose of Liser medicine usually occurs in combination with other medications or alcohol. If you notice having the symptoms mentioned above, look for emergency medical treatment at a nearby medical facility.

Missed a Dose

If you have missed a dose of Liser Tablet, take it as soon as you recall. If it is time to take the next Liser Tablet, skip the missed one and continue with the current dose. Interactions with other medicines

  • Do not take Liser Tablet with disulfiram (used in the treatment of alcohol addiction) because if sertraline oral concentrate has alcohol, which can lead to severe vomiting.
  • If you are using Liser Tablet, do not use other medicines that also raise serotonin levels, such as SSRIs, SNRIs, triptans, etc. It can cause serotonin toxicity and life-threatening side effects such as vomiting, high heart rate and even death.
  • Using Liser Tablet with medications like aspirin, NSAIDs, blood thinners (warfarin), antiplatelet medicines, etc., can lead to an increased risk of bleeding.
  • Consuming Liser Tablet with other antidepressants like (methylene blue, linezolid, etc.) can lower the metabolism of serotonin, which can be fatal.
  • Taking Liser Tablet with the antipsychotic medicine pimozide. It can cause bleeding or bruising.

Interactions with food items

  • Avoid cola, chocolate and caffeine-containing food products with Liser Tablet. All these food items can increase serotonin levels, and the combination can result in a condition called serotonin syndrome. It causes high fever, agitation, vomiting, nausea, fast heartbeat, trembling, sweating, and sudden muscle jerky movements.
