Lidesc Spray is a local anaesthetic. It is used to reduce pain and prevent reflex gagging during minor dental treatments, after childbirth and medical examination procedures involving the insertion o
f viewing tools in the nose, throat, stomach or lungs. Lidesc Spray contains lidocaine/lignocaine as the active substance. This medicine will be given to you by a doctor or nurse in a hospital or clinic setting. Do not use it on your own. Lidesc Spray should not be sprayed in the eyes. In case of contact with the eyes, wash your eyes with clean water immediately. Before using Lidesc Spray, inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning on becoming pregnant, breastfeeding and about your complete medical history. Also, inform about all the medicines and supplements that you are taking.

- You have a wound or injury to the mucosa at the site of the application of medicine.
- You are using Lidesc Spray in the mouth or throat of children. Care should be taken as it may interfere with swallowing.
- You experience fits/seizures.
- You have heart or blood vessel disorders.
- You have a lower-than-normal heart rate or heart rhythm disorder.
- You have kidney or liver disorders.
- You have shock or poor general health (debility).
- You are elderly.
- You are taking medicines for the management of heart rhythm disorders (amiodarone). If you are not sure what these medicines are, please confirm with your doctor.
- You have a condition called porphyria.

Interactions with other medicines
- Some medicines can affect the way how Lidesc Spray works or this medicine itself can affect the working of other medicines.
- Inform your doctor about all other medicines, herbals or supplements that you are currently taking or might take to avoid any possible interaction.
- Particular care should be taken if you are using other local anaesthetics or medicines used to manage abnormal heart rhythm (mexiletine, amiodarone).
- Caution is advised when Lidesc Spray is used for the long term along with medicines used to treat stomach acidity/ulcers (cimetidine) or medicines used for reducing blood pressure (beta blockers).
Storage and disposal of Lidesc 10 %
- Store Lidesc Spray in a cool and dry place below 25°C away from direct sunlight.
- Keep out of reach of children and pets.
Dosage of Lidesc 10 %
Overdose
- Since Lidesc Spray will be given to you by a doctor or nurse, chances of an overdose are unlikely.
- However, symptoms of an overdose include numbness of the tongue, lightheadedness, ringing in the ears, pin and needle/pricking sensation, visual disturbances and muscle tremors.
- If you experience any of the above symptoms, inform your doctor immediately or visit the nearest hospital.
Missed a Dose
- It is unlikely that a dose of Lidesc Spray will be missed if you are monitored in a healthcare setup.
- However, if you have missed a dose of this medicine, inform the doctor or nurse immediately.
