Human Actrapid 40 IU/ML Description

Human Actrapid injection contains human insulin, which is a short-acting insulin. It is an anti-diabetic medicine belonging to the insulin group of medicine. Human Actrapid is used to lower blood glucose levels in both type 1 and type 2 diabetes. Insulin in Human Actrapid provides rapid action but for a shorter duration.

You should always take Human Actrapid insulin at least 15-20 minutes before or within 20 minutes of starting the meal. Never skip a meal or the dose of insulin. Take small but frequent meals to maintain blood sugar levels. Do not take insulin on the same site for a longer duration.

While on Human Actrapid injection, you should keep sugar candy or glucose handy as it has decreased blood sugar levels (hypoglycemia) as its common side effect. However, if you experience these symptoms quite often, contact your doctor; he might change the dose of this medicine.

Human Actrapid Injection is usually safe during breastfeeding. Thus, it can be taken while you are nursing an infant.

Can I drive if I have consumed Human Actrapid Injection?

Insulin is known to cause low blood sugar levels and these can lead to impairment in your driving ability.
Always keep sugar or a bar of chocolate in your car with you while driving.
In case you experience any of the symptoms of low blood glucose levels like dizziness, drowsiness, visual disturbances and sweating, stop driving immediately and have sugar/ juice.

Can I consume alcohol with Human Actrapid Injection?

You should not consume alcohol when you are taking Human Actrapid Injection as it interferes with the way insulin works.
Consumption of alcohol may lead to an increased risk of both low blood glucose level and high blood glucose level. Thus, avoid excessive use of alcohol while taking insulin.

Directions for Use of Human Actrapid 40 IU/ML

Take Human Actrapid Injection as per the technique suggested by your doctor or nurse.
This injection is to be taken under the skin of the thigh, upper arm or abdomen.
Do not take this injection in the vein or muscles.
Pull a skin, and fold up to take this injection.
Wait for at least 6 seconds before removing the needle from the injection site.
Always rotate the site of injection, do not take concurrent injections at the same site.

Storage and disposal of Human Actrapid 40 IU/ML

Store between 2°C to 8°C in the refrigerator.
Do not freeze it.
Keep it out of the reach of children.

Overdose

Excess of Human Actrapid Injection can cause low blood sugar levels, called hypoglycemia characterized by dizziness, fainting, sweating and tremors may be experienced.

Missed a Dose

Keep the needle under the skin for at least 6 seconds to ensure complete dose delivery.
