Galirex Syrup is a cough and cold medication. It is used to provide relief of the symptoms of dry cough due to excess mucus that drains from the nose to the throat making you cough. It can be used in
adults and children above 2 years of age. It contains a combination of cetirizine, phenylephrine, and dextromethorphan as active substances. Take this medicine in the exact dose and duration as directed by your doctor. Do not take more than the prescribed dose. Shake well before use. Before using Galirex Syrup, inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning on becoming pregnant, breastfeeding, and about your complete medical history. Also, inform about all the medicines and supplements that you take.

Uses of Galirex Syrup 100ml
Contraindications of Galirex Syrup 100ml
- If you are allergic to cetirizine, phenylephrine, dextromethorphan, or any other ingredient of Galirex Syrup.
- If you have high blood pressure.
- If you have a narrow or blockage in the blood vessels that supply blood to your heart.
- If you are taking medicines called monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) or have taken them in the last 14 days. If you are not sure what these medicines are, please confirm with your doctor.
- If you have a condition of increased eye pressure called narrow-angle glaucoma.
- If you are unable to completely empty the bladder due to blockage or any other condition.
- If you have ulcers in your stomach or intestine.

Mode of Action of Galirex Syrup 100ml
How Does It Work?
- Galirex Syrup contains a combination of cetirizine, phenylephrine, and dextromethorphan as active substances.
- Cetirizine works by opposing the action of a substance called histamine that is responsible for causing allergic symptoms.
- Phenylephrine produces constriction of the blood vessels of the nose which reduces fluid accumulation and clears the nasal blockage.
- Dextromethorphan acts in the brain and reduces the non-productive (dry) coughing associated with cold.
Directions for Use of Galirex Syrup 100ml
- Galirex Syrup should be taken exactly as directed by your doctor.
- Shake well before use.
- Use a measuring cup or spoon for the exact quantity.
- Do not take more than the prescribed dose.

Interactions with other medicines
- Some medicines can affect the way Galirex Syrup works or this medicine itself may interfere with the working of other medicines.
- Inform your doctor about all other medicines, herbals, or supplements that you are currently taking or might take to avoid any possible interaction.
- Particular care should be taken if you are taking medicines for the management of mental disorders (tricyclic antidepressants, barbiturates, CNS depressants), Parkinson's disease (monoamine oxidase inhibitors), high blood pressure (reserpine, methyldopa, mecamylamine)....
- The cough suppressant action may be increased if Galirex Syrup is used together with other cough suppressants containing narcotics.
- This medicine should not be taken if you are taking medicines called monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs).
Storage and disposal of Galirex Syrup 100ml
- Store Galirex Syrup in a cool and dry place below 30°C away from direct sunlight.
- Keep out of reach of children and pets.
Dosage of Galirex Syrup 100ml
Overdose
Missed a Dose
- If you missed a dose of Galirex Syrup, take it as soon as you remember.
- If it's time for your next dose, then skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule.
- Do not take a double dose to compensate for the missed dose.
