Directions for Use
- Eylea 40 Injection is given only by a healthcare professional experienced in giving injections into the eye.
- It is given as an injection into the jelly of the eye, known as an intravitreal injection, under clean and sterile conditions.
- Before the injection, your eye will be cleaned with a disinfectant eyewash to prevent infection, and a local anaesthetic will be given so that the injection is not painful.
- The dose, the treatment schedule and the interval between injections are decided by your doctor and depend on the condition being treated and how you respond.
- Never try to change, delay or skip an appointment on your own.
- Giving it into both eyes at the same time has not been studied and may raise the risk of side effects.
- Speak to your doctor before stopping treatment.
Storage and disposal
- Eylea 40 Injection is a hospital-administered medicine, so the clinic or pharmacy normally handles its storage, preparation and disposal.
- Store it in a refrigerator, between 2 and 8 degrees Celsius. Do not freeze it.
- An unopened vial may be kept outside the refrigerator, below 25 degrees Celsius, for a short period only, as stated on the pack.
- Store it in the original package to protect it from light.
- Keep it out of the sight and reach of children.
- Do not use it after the expiry date printed on the carton and the label. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.
- Do not throw medicines away with household waste or down the drain. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines you no longer need.
Quick Tips
- Contact your doctor immediately if your vision suddenly drops, or the eye becomes more painful or red after an injection.
- Arrange for someone to take you home after the injection. Your vision can be blurred for a while, so do not plan to drive yourself.
- Keep every appointment, including the follow-up examinations. The treatment schedule is set from what your doctor sees at each check.
- Expect a gritty feeling or a red patch on the white of the eye afterwards. That is common and settles on its own.
- Tell your doctor if you have glaucoma, or if you have recently had or are about to have eye surgery.
- If you could become pregnant, use reliable contraception during treatment and for at least three months after the last injection.

Interactions
Interactions with other medicines
- Tell your doctor if you are using, have recently used, or might use any other medicines, including ones bought without a prescription.
- No specific medicine interactions have been established for Eylea 40 Injection, because very little of it passes into the bloodstream after an eye injection.
- Tell your doctor if you take a blood thinner or an antiplatelet medicine, and mention any eye drops or eye treatments you already use.
Interactions with food items
- Eylea 40 Injection is injected into the eye by a healthcare professional, so interactions with food do not apply.
