Contraindications
- If you are allergic to diltiazem or any other ingredient of Dilzem-SR tablet.
- If you are pregnant.
- If you have a heart-related disorder such as heart block, sick sinus or heart failure.
- If you have heart failure along with fluid accumulation in the lungs.
- If you have taken or are taking a muscle relaxant medicine called dantrolene via injection.

- You have a heart-related condition apart from what Dilzem-SR tablet is being used for.

- You have a condition called porphyria which is a blood-related disorder that may affect the brain and skin.
- You are scheduled for surgery which requires you to be on anaesthesia.
- You have liver or kidney disorders.
- You may experience mood changes or feel low very often after initiating treatment with Dilzem-SR tablet.
Directions for Use
- Take Dilzem-SR tablet as a whole with sufficient water.
- Always take this medicine exactly as prescribed by your doctor.
- Do not consume more than the prescribed dose.
- Do not discontinue the medicine on your own without consulting your doctor.

Interactions
Interactions with other medicines
- Certain medicines may affect the way Dilzem-SR tablet works, or Dilzem-SR tablet itself may reduce the effectiveness of other medicines taken at the same time.
- Tell your doctor about all medicines, supplements, or herbals you are currently taking or might take to avoid possible interaction.
- Dantrolene, which is a muscle relaxant medicine, and vasodilators like nitrates which relax the blood vessels should never be taken along with Dilzem-SR tablet as it may lead to a significant drop in blood pressure.
- Particular care should be taken if you are taking medicines for high blood pressure (doxazosin, atenolol, ramipril), acidity (cimetidine), HIV/AIDS (ritonavir), mental disorders (lithium), immune system alteration (cyclosporine), asthma/chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (theophylline), heart failure (digoxin), fits/seizures (carbamazepine, phenobarbital), tuberculosis (rifampicin), inflammation (methylprednisolone), high/abnormal cholesterol levels (atorvastatin).
