Cpz 50 Mg Tablet comes under the therapeutic classification of phenothiazine antipsychotics. Cpz 50 mg tablet is used to treat schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders such as paranoia, mania, hypomania and anxiety. Cpz 50 mg tablet is composed of 50 mg of chlorpromazine. Cpz 50 mg tablet is also used to treat persistent hiccups, nausea and vomiting. Schizophrenia is a mental illness characterised by disturbed thinking and emotions and affects how a person thinks, feels, and behaves. Paranoia is a medical condition characterised by delusions, unwanted jealousy. In contrast, mania refers to the condition in which sudden change of mood and behaviour with persistent overactive behaviour can be seen.
Cpz 50 mg tablet is to be taken exactly as suggested by the physician. Do not take in more than prescribed amounts. Consult your physician immediately if you experience any side effects, worsening of your condition, or allergic side effects. Continue taking Cpz 50 mg tablets for as long as your doctor recommends. It is essential to follow the complete course of treatment. Do not give the medicine to anyone else, even if they have the same symptoms or condition as you. Also, inform your doctor if you take any new medicines to avoid medication interactions. Please do not stop taking the medicine suddenly without consulting your doctor, as it can cause withdrawal effects like nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, dizziness, and shakiness. Your doctor may taper the dosage gradually based on your medical condition before stopping it completely.

Contraindications
- It is contraindicated in the following cases:
- If you have a chlorpromazine hypersensitivity or an allergy to any other ingredients present in Cpz 50 mg tablet
- If you are in comatose states or the presence of large amounts of central nervous system depressants like alcohol, barbiturates and narcotics
Side effects
- Side effects ofClobator tablet include:
- Orthostatic hypotension (low blood pressure that happens when you stand up from sitting or lying down)
- Increased weight
- Somnolence
- Sedation
- Dyskinesia (involuntary movements of face, arm and legs)
- Dry mouth
- Constipation

Directions for Use
- Take a Cpz 50 mg tablet exactly as directed by your doctor.
- Take Cpz 50 mg tablet with or without food.
- Swallow Cpz 50 mg tablet with a glass of water. Do not chew or crush it.
- Read the label instructions carefully.
- Take the dose in recommended amounts at a particular time in a day to get maximum benefits and desired clinical effect.
Storage and disposal
Store Cpz 50 mg tablet at room temperature below 25℃. Store it in an airtight container, away from the reach of children and pets. Keep Cpz 50 mg tablet away from direct sunlight, heat, and moisture. Keep your tablets in the packaging until it is time to take them. Do not throw away the medicines with household waste. Dispose of the expired/unused medicine immediately as biomedical waste. Do not use it post the date of expiry stated on the label.

Overdose
Always consume a Cpz 50 mg tablet exactly as suggested by your physician. Symptoms of overdosage can include low blood pressure, sleepiness, quick and shallow breaths, low body temperature, restlessness, irregular heartbeats, and twisting limbs. In case of overdosage, seek emergency medical treatment immediately.
Missed a Dose
Take the missed dose of Cpz 50 mg tablet just when you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, wait until then to take the medicine and skip the missed dose. Do not alter the recommended dosage, as it can have adverse effects.

How Does It Work?
Cpz 50 mg tablet exerts its mechanism of action by blocking the action of a chemical messenger called dopamine.
Dopamine is a chemical messenger between neurons in the brain. It regulates mood and muscle movements and plays a vital role in the brain's pleasure and reward system. By blocking the dopamine, Cpz 50 mg tablet restores chemical imbalance in the brain. It further improves mood, thinking and behaviour. Cpz 50 mg tablet also acts on certain substances like histamine (anti-allergic) and muscarinic receptors in the brain and prevents nausea and vomiting.
Interactions
Interactions with other medicines
- Cpz 50 mg tablet can cause adverse reactions when taken with the following medicines:
- Interaction with anti-diabetic agents like metformin, glipizide, and rosiglitazone can increase blood sugar levels (decreased insulin levels).
- Interaction with anti-Parkinson's medicines like levodopa can lead to reciprocal antagonism of levodopa.
- Interaction with lithium can cause confusional syndrome, hypertonia and hyper reflexivity.
- Interaction with antihypertensives like hydrochlorothiazide and indapamide can increase orthostatic hypotension risk.
- To avoid undesirable side effects associated with medicine interaction, inform your doctor about all medicines and supplements you are currently taking.
Interactions with food items
- Unless your physician suggests, there is no need to avoid any particular type of food or drink when taking a Cpz 50 mg tablet.
